My friend Brent is a master with foam and can really make a foam arf look good. This is his refinished Freewing F-18 which he modified quite a bit. Most notably, he added the E-flite F-18 main landing gear to the model which really changes the looks of the model on the ground. He added a secondary spring that adds a little shock absorption to the mains as well which works excellently. The finish is extremely nice too having that characteristic gloss Blue Angels blue. The blue and gold really pops against the blue sky! #blueangels #flyday #fighterjet

The flying matched the scale detail of the build perfectly. Super nice scale loops, the solo fortess pass with the gear down, the "opposing aileron rolls" pass and even did a nice scale minimum radius turn. Fantastic.

Eflite F18 landing gear but with beefed up wheels.. is that what he did?? Looks so cool.

He added a secondary spring in there for when they’re compressed and put some Robart tires on there. Those gear are pretty robust, but it took quite a bit of modification to get them in there.

Honestly I’m not sure. This was a model my friend had kit bashed up and I don’t know where he ended up on the cg with it.

What size wheels do you have on your plane? The gear and struts?

This was modified to receive the eflite f18 main struts and retracts. The nose gear is the stock freewing still.
