This is the full, real-time experience of riding the train from Akihabara Station in Tokyo to Kamihongo Station in Matsudo. It includes a brief tour of the inside of Akihabara Station, Matsudo Station, and Kamihongo Station.
If you're new to the channel and don't know, I live in the Matsudo city area, in Chiba prefecture just outside of Tokyo.
If you'd like to skip to a certain section, use the timestamps below or scroll forward on the timeline bar on the video itself.

If you have any questions or comments about anything you saw along the way, please let me know in the comments section! Thank you to the #MoistFam and all of you for your ongoing support and for helping me make these videos for you to enjoy.

Hey y'all, I hope you enjoyed this journey of mine. I commute between Ueno and Matsudo weekly I've been wanting to share this experience with you all for a while. Now that I have this new Osmo Pocket 2 (with the help of you all), I'm able to comfortably start filming these experiences in 4K 50fps for you. What did you enjoy the most about this journey? Let me know in the comments! Stick around the channel because there's much more content coming!

It honestly brought me to tears (especially when I heard “the next station is Matsudo” 😭)Thank you so much for this train journey, Cory! Incredible video. Love seeing so much of the city via train. I use to ride / tape train rides from Albany, New York to New York City. Mostly saw the Hudson River for 150 miles. Very soothing especially during rainy / foggy days. Love this video. Just amazed at how clean everything is on the train / in the city. New York is always dark / dingy / filthy even before COVID and the protests.

Awww. I'm glad you could feel like you were back in Japan with this video! Hmmm I'll think about the non-speaking video tour. I did that a few times before and the reactions were mixed. Some people were wondering why I didn't talk and others enjoyed the silence. But to be honest, talking/commenting during the videos is just my style since the beginning of my channel. There are plenty of really good walking KZfaq channels out there that don't talk at all (probably why they are all famous with hundreds of thousands of subscribers). hehehe But I'm making my content the way I want to. I tried to talk less in this video, giving gaps of silence and just pure ASMR. Hopefully that's nice enough for you to enjoy. hehehe I appreciate you watching and commenting!! Stay tuned for more!

I have a question: is there any type of transports card that is best for tourists? like I know in Europe some countries have like a visitors card that makes it easier to use the public transports with multiple access for a certain amount of days? Not sure if im being able to ask this correctly but i think you understand what i mean 😂 Thank you once again Cory, love your videos! Oh and choo choo 😂

Sweet! I'm glad you could relax to the video after your walk. I recommend getting a SUICA transportation card, which is what I use. You can use it to pay for all transportation, as well as pay for things at cash registers and even vending machines. But if you are travelling across Japan, I heard that the JR Railway Pass is good for visitors. I don't know the details since I live here and don't need that, but my friend who visited in 2019 had that and went down to Kyoto and Osaka and back up to Tokyo and used that JR Railway Pass and said it was really worth it. I hope that helps you! Thanks for watching and commenting, Laura!

Choo choo Choo Choo! Are the trains airconditioned? I thought the conductor looked really hot and needed a fan! Who were the people dressed in yellow suits at the station? Does pizza hut japan have interesting toppings unique to only japan? Also, this is totally random but have you been to see the mummified monks called Sokushinbutsu? Ya that's right i went from asking about pizza hut to mummies...lol. You think astronomy is fascinating and I think mummies are. I'm enjoying the first person point of view! Thanks
@CoryMay81
@CoryMay81 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the trains have AC in the summers and heaters in the winter. Though with Covid, they tend to crack all the windows now for some kind of airflow, even with the AC on too. I imagine the conductor's area is probably warm, but I have seen fans in them before. Pizzahut.jp has a list of many of their toppings. There are definitely many toppings not seen in other countries. I haven't seen the mummies (yet), but nice segue. LOL Thanks again for watching and leaving comments and questions!

Thanks for this video Cory. My usual stop is Kanamachi station, but it's nice to know I could go to Matsudo first and get on the rapid line straight to Ueno. The Joban line from Kanamachi goes to Nezu station which is a longer walk. What is this line called? Joban rapid line?
@CoryMay81
@CoryMay81 2 жыл бұрын
It's called the Ueno-Tokyo Or Joban Rapid. The stops are Ueno > Nippori > Mikawashima > Minami-Senju > Kita-Senju > Matsudo for either line. The Joban rapid one ends at Ueno, but if you catch the Ueno-Tokyo, it goes all the way to Shinagawa. Very useful to get directly to Tokyo Station or further south from Matsudo.

Yeah, travelling around Japan is definitely on my list of things to do. It's just not that safe to travel right now and my income took a big hit from the pandemic in 2020 so I'm just trying to save up money right now. I haven't been to Nara since I was 13 years old, back in 1995. So it would be nice to visit again and make some videos about that.

Have you done a Kappabashi tour yet? Just curious.

I have not. I've been meaning to film there for awhile, but it was not ideal for live streaming and I didn't have a good small camera for the footage that I wanted. Now that I have the Pocket 2, I think I can finally go there and make the kind of video I wanted to make. I haven't been there in a long time so I hope some of the stores are still open and not closed due to the pandemic. Stay tuned!

@Cory May Hello Cory. Are bicycles allowed on the trains?
@CoryMay81
@CoryMay81 3 жыл бұрын
In my 2+ years of being back in Japan, I've only seen 1 man carry on a foldable bicycle. I have never seen anyone else bring a bike on the train like they do in Seoul. I'm not sure if it's a rule or just an unspoken societal/cultural thing. A quick Google search resulted in this: www.google.com/amp/s/japan-cycling.com/trains-bike/amp/

I teaching adults English 1-on-1 full time. I've been working from home since March 2020 but before that, I was working at an office location in Ikebukuro.

Do people in Japan still have to wear masks everywhere? Or is it optional in some places like restaurants/businesses?
@CoryMay81
@CoryMay81 3 жыл бұрын
There has never been a law mandating that people wear masks. Japan has been a mask-wearing culture for many decades so wearing one during the pandemic was very easy for everyone to get on board with. There were already stores specializing in making and selling masks long before Covid. During the pandemic though, stores and shops have policies that customers must wear masks and sometimes force the use of hand sanitizer (hand sanitizer is at the doorway of every store and shop now). I went to a ramen shop that told customers to wear their mask until their ramen arrived to their table. In general, though, most restaurants don't care if you take off your mask once you sit at your table. You're going to take it off anyway to eat. Japanese are pretty aware of the pandemic and so everyone collectively wants to do the right thing, by wearing masks at all times.

hahaha It can be overwhelming, but this commute is so frequent for me that I can do it blindfolded. Maybe in other stations around Tokyo, I'd get lost. hehe
