Hello. The blade tips are designed so one blade tip goes slightly past the other blade tip. This is what allows the excess foam to fall away, otherwise the blade tips would need to touch each other. The back of the tool has a depth dial with a reference scale on the underside. Set the depth so that it cuts just deep enough to make a clean 90 degree fold on the foam which is about 3/4 of the way through. If the tool is cutting too deep, adjust the depth to be more shallow. It may also help to place a scrap piece of foam at the start of the cut and the end of the cut so the tool rides flat as it first approaches the start of the cut and as it rides off the bottom edge of the foam. You must always use this tool with a straight edge guide or with the XT3001 Channel Rail and change your blades often. Thanks.

In order to truly have a clean 90 degree edge, the blades must be moved further away from each other not front and back, but side to side. 3/4 of the way through does not provide a clean 90 degree edge like you just mentioned. You want the deepest point of the cut to go through the first layer of paper, through the foam in the middle, and then stop right before cutting into the back piece of paper. This allows the piece of foam to have a crisp fold. Your tool is simply manufactured wrong, I’m sorry. Fix this, and I will have an entirely different experience, I’m sure. Thank you.

@@LoganGraphic I also used fresh blades, the recommended ruler/rail, and scrap pieces before and after the cut. The blades still wobble because this product is manufactured too structurally unsound. Please provide a sturdier tool, because the current version does not make the cut for accurate work.

@@alexjohnson4567 I am not sure why you are having issues. We have made v-grooving tools in this same manner and design for decades and the version you have designed for use on standard foam board or EVA foam has been sold since 2008.

@@LoganGraphic I don't think you understand what I mean when I say "clean 90 degree edge". I mean I need an edge that isn't rounded or soft. When looking at the tool head on, the blades should meet point to point; though we both know depth-wise one blade is set back further than another.

No it will not cut gypsum board. It is rated for Foamboard or EVA material.

Hello, to use this tool make sure the blades are sharp. Set the depth to almost go all the way through but to leave enough to hinge and allow a fold. Its best to use this against a straight edge or connect to the Cos-Tools Channel Rail. It might also help to add extra material before and after the cut so the blades more smoothly enter and exit the foam you are v-grooving. Always use scrap foamboard as underlayment underneath. Can you tell me what type of foam you are cutting?

No, this cutter is meant for Foam Board.
