Beware the path before you. In these places you see the corpses of those who went before you and never returned. Their bodies long ago transformed into the meal of a new way of life and a constant never ending hunger to feed. In this place, there is only hunger and waiting. There is never satisfaction and fullness. The living forms await their next meal in stasis and morbid pain, unable to reach out and capture and feast. So, instead, they create forms familiar and yet disturbing, smells, foreign and yet intoxicating, sounds, terrifying and yet comforting. The meal must not flee. It must stay. And in the confusion of emotions intentionally placed their by that new yet ancient life, the traveler begins to surrender. To acquiesce to the darkness around them. To see this lack of light as starshine and the life begins to feed. Soon the meal is converting to the life that requires it for sustenance. No longer a traveler but a resident of the breathing slowly changing environment around them. And in the ecstasy of despair, the meal is consumed, and begins its wait for its next meal.
