I love sleeping masks and these two options from Cosrx are no-nonsense and just get the job done. But what's the difference between the two and which on should you buy?

I destroyed my barrier a few months back. Everything that touched my skin burned 🔥. I stopped using everything, washing with only water and using the krave great barrier relief. After about a week I started adding things back in. I had ordered new sunscreen new moisturizer new toner etc. I started with a moisturizer ( skin&lab medicica calming cream and the CosRX rice overnight spa mask). I freaking looooves this rice mask. I believe both you and James Welsh have suggested it and rightfully so. Keep up the good work!

I recently used the Honey overnight mask on a three hour flight (over a hydrating essence and a moisturizer). My skin was much less parched than usual after the flight and I like that it’s not very noticeable on the skin. I’m pretty dry/dehydrated, so I’m going to try the rice as well. I agree with you that the Honey mask is best as a “bonus layer” on top of skin that is hydrated and moisturized and that it doesn’t add a ton of benefits, but it seems to be a nice way to seal in the benefits from other steps and it’s very pleasant to use.
@KellyDriscoll

Hey Veronica! That's so awesome to know it helped your skin during your flight! My skin always feels extra dehydrated on flights (even after sheet masking in public 😂) so I will definitely need to steal this trick next time I'm in flight!

I use the rice mask as a moisturizer every night, I put it on my damp skin right after cleansing my face and then I put tretinoin after when my face is already 100% dry. In the morning I still use it on my damp skin and then follow up with a sunscreen. I have acne prone and oily skin, but now I dont deal with any acne and sebum is under control. 😊

I've been using the rice mask for quite some time. I think Cosrx referring to it as a "mask" is a bit misleading. It is a lightweight moisturizer and can be used in the am or pm. For your evening routine, I suggest adding a layer and allow the product to dry down, and add a second layer. Allow it to dry down before going to bed. Honestly, this is really an amazing and inexpensive product. I just reordered this on Amazon for $11; you can't beat that! I have oily skin which does breakout and I wake up to clear, bright, and moisturized skin. One last thing, this has zero fragrance. The only scent maybe the natural scent of the product.

I used the rice spa mask as moisturizer. Its perfect as moisturizer. It did sting the first time i used it but my skin got used to it. It sinks in so well. It didn't feel like it evaporates into the air. I've tried gel moisturizers that are too light that it feels like it evaporates without going into my skin. It helps my dehydrated skin though in very humid days I go with a lighter moisturizer.

Hi, Kelly! I’ve been using the Rice Mask for about 2-3 months now and I’m almost out of it. Been using it almost every single night ever since purchasing, and I agree that it does go a long way. My skin is dehydrated-oily and I live in a hot and humid place, but I still love it as an overnight sleeping mask/moisturizer because it’s not sticky or thick. Instead, I find that it creates a smooth and lightweight occlusive layer on top of my other skincare products. But I must also say that it does sting around my mouth area where I usually shave, but other than that the only time it does sting is if I use it after going in with a chemical exfoliator that has a higher percentage of active ingredients. Planning on getting the Honey Mask after I finish my Rice Mask, so thank you for the info you’ve given on both products!

I would recommend trying Benton Snail Bee Lotion (not the steam cream) it's really light weight and not greasy on the skin and it dries down with no stickiness. @@NTUNKNOWN It's not necessarily bad, it also has niacinamide but I believe it's a much lower amount. The cosrx honey mask is a much plainer IL that will just seal in hydration for you and the Klairs has a nice brightening effect. Definitely try the Klairs and see how you like it, listen to what your skin tells you and make adjustments if necessary!

I'm so into Korean skincare but I'm yet to try anything. I'm mixed race so I have darker skin, I always come close to buying a product before realizing that it lightens skin. I don't really know what products do and do not lighten skin which is why unfortunately I haven't tried anything yet. Do you know if either if these masks have a lightening effect? And if they do could you recommend any that do not?
@KellyDriscoll
@KellyDriscoll 4 жыл бұрын
These don't lighten the skin, they brighten! K-beauty often uses the term whitening but it refers to evening out the complexion and giving it a glow, there is no skin bleaching involved.

Do you need to use moisturizer before using the honey mask?
@KellyDriscoll
@KellyDriscoll 5 жыл бұрын
It depends what your skin wants/needs! I do because my skin is dehydrated/dry but it can double up as a light moisturizer so not required to layer a moisturizer under it if your skin doesn't want/need a lot of moisture!

hii kelly! is there any way you can use the same products both night /day? (with the exception of switching a couple like vitamin c/spf moisturizer and little things like that) can you please make a video that includes a sort of guide and mentions your “must-haves”? i just binge-watched your videos because of your acne/pih video but i am a bit lost since i am new to trying to use products that directly help my problem. you also use sooo many products and tbh, i wouldn’t be able to afford buying them at the same time. (not all the products, but you know) i have more combo skin (occasional dry patches and oily t-zone) and suffer from TERRIBLE acne. like you, cystic acne/whiteheads are my main problem because of clogged pores and occasional breakouts. and like you, i inevitably pick at them and that results in my skin scarring and the area never seems to “heal”.

Hi Alma! Starting your skincare journey is super overwhelming, I know! Not everyone does well with the 10-step routine so don't feel that has to be your goal! I would say make sure you are double cleansing at night if you wear makeup or sunscreen as that can make a big difference in your acne when you are cleaning everything off at night. I would also say that making chemical exfoliation a priority is important because of your struggle with acne. For brightening I do highly recommend vitamin C. Beyond that I would say definitely use some hydrating products! Morning might be: cleanse/vitamin c/hydrating essence or serum/ moisturizer/sunscreen Night might be: oil cleanser/foam cleanser/chemical exfoliation/ same hydrating serum/ same moisturizer. In total that would be 7 products that you would be using day and night in different combinations. I can definitely make a beginner or essential routine video too! Hope this helps, good luck!💕

Kelly Driscoll you are so so helpful, thank you so much! i actually started using tea tree oil as a spot treatment and that seemed to work at shrinking the breakouts overnight. i am ordering some vitamin c and some serum right now. regardless, thank you for being so helpful and sweet!!💗

Im sorry but a lot of the claims are pulled out of her or the companies ars like propolis being shooting and hydrating, or any of that masks ingredients having brightening properties, or being ok for sensitive skin, wich is really NOT
@jadew.1472
@jadew.1472 3 жыл бұрын
There is still little research on propolis but it does appear to have sealing/occlusive properties which may help with maintaining hydration due to a composition consisting of resin, wax, & essential oils. :)

@jadew.1472
@jadew.1472 3 жыл бұрын
Um honey isn’t propolis, mam. Propolis is a completely different bee byproduct made of wax, oils, pollen, & most importantly tree resins/balsams (which in trees-)are meant to seal wounds & defend against bacteria/fungi. There isn’t too much study on it yet but many skincare curators believe the same sealing, healing, hydrating, & antibacterial properties can be carried over to human skin. I assume they only put honey in the name of the product because it’s sounds a lot more attractive & is easier to remember than propolis. I’m not sure why you were under the impression that 여보 honey=propolis but please look into next time you decide to accuse someone of doing less research than you. :)
