Because Polos were sold in a lot of countries and remained more of less the same (MK5) throughout their markets, one can add a lot of features in Indian Polo by getting parts from a French Polo (obviously both should be MK5). Also, parts are so much standardised in VW that Polo can even accommodate Jetta’s seats (with ventilation & memory function) and no one can say it isn’t a standard Polo fitment. Polo can also use many Golf GTI’s parts. There was a 1.6Ltr NA 4cylinder Polo that was amazing to drive. If I had that much money, I’d still be swapping parts in and out of my Polo.

For the last one --before 2014 doors used to have weight...so I had to add some stones in it to make it heavier😂😂😂😂

Engines and build quality was very much better before 2014

My 2010 1.6 mpi ..I can say feels.liek a tank and even the bumpers eventhough they look blunt is super strong not like paper in newer gen cars

I never realised about the arm rest and the ring in the newer ones. We have the 2011 Vento with the 1.6 TDI and it has both of those. It originally came with fabric but we had it changed to a softer material and also had the centre arm rest also changed to a little softer and more supportive specifically for my dad's driving style.

I think the reason is because at some point this generation was still being sold in some countries while the newer model was already out. In South Africa where it's built , we have a "vivo" model which is basically this shape, that gets sold as a cheaper alternative to the new AW generation polo. That's one of the reason if might feel cheaper. Especially with doors being lighter, less insulation etc etc.

This polo never sold well in the Philippines since it was so archaic compared to the Mazda 2 which was just bigger, more powerful, premium, modern, better transmission, 4 disc brakes. Literally the polo never stood a chance. Even the automatic transmission was slow to respond but to be fair it was an old model and I'm surprised to still see it new in India. Sad that they didn't bring the new euro spec polo here though.

Saddening but true, my MK5 JETTA was built better than the last gen in terms of interior quality wise. The interior screamed the simply clever bits such as velvet lining on the door bottle holders, Slow action of the Globebox, Cabin lights turn on and off slowly just like a rolls Royce, and general cabin quality was much better in older models.

As long as engine is the same no issues

The spare tyre thing you mentioned is not true. I own a 2013 vento and it too has a space saver tyre & also the fabric padded armrest is not present in my 2013 vento. The fabric pads were present only till 10-2012 models ig.

Absolutely right. In 2016 I bought second hand Polo 2012 model . I used that car for 4 and half year and later sold it. Having used German car for 4 yrs i didnt find that comfort and safety in any other car so i decided to buy New Polo. When i took test drive in 2021 i was very upset looking at the n numbers of compromise VW has done on Polo. Be it engine size, built quality, car weight, side mirror size and other features. They have done hell lot of compromise and ruined iconic Polo.

Can we also talk about this polo being the lowest trim ever and all the things he said that he installed are actually manufactured fitted plus if you are asking how I know, I own one in the uk. It is also a 2016 polo not a 2023 model

Before 2014 india has lower taxes on cars no sudden unplanned emissions norms but after 2014 we have seen very high taxes and sudden changing emissions norms causing us to pay more for the same car. So that politicians can ride in fortuners bmw mercs and we on other hand can’t even buy alto

May be you are right but doing cost cuttings in interior is better than compromising safety ratings and airbags in car means compromising directly with life of driver and passenger.many brands like maruti suzuki/Kia does with Indian consumer

My polo is 2013 highline and yes it has 4kops in the rear boot and when I upgrade the stereo to rcd340 then it shows the ops lines on the stereo otherwise that ops didn’t work and when they started giving touch stereo in 2014 they removed the ops like why the ?

How did you add the boot lights? Wiring was added separately I guess, as most manufacturers remove the wiring even if the slot is present? And how are linked to the locks, so they don't remain lit up when the door closes?
