Excellent overview, Josh. It's obvious that you put your ALL in everything you do, making every project you do a GREAT value at whatever it costs.

We seen these all over the US & always look for one when considering a Recreational home base between RV trips where we can recharge and hunker down during pandemics. I like the ability to pull in the RV into the shop area so rural neighbors can't easily tell if we are parked or not. Having a place to work on the RV and to bring family over for some ATV fun would be priceless, thanks for all of the inspiring ideas and now I can compare various brands to see how the technology has evolved. Now can look for land also where the recreational version may be allowed over just a house version, etc.

WOW! I'm SO in LOVE with barndominiums now!!! I never seen such a thing... I've bn dreaming of these ever since I seen a few of ur walk throughs... We will be purchasing land to build in Florida... Can this type of structure be built here... These r the BEST homes I've ever seen... Talk about using space wisely... A shop CONNECTED to ur home... WOW... I'M IN LOVE!!!!! Country... With that said, Thank you for this video amd atleast giving us a ball park to start playing around with so we know what to expect and plan accordingly, bcuz I had no idea if it would be $50k, 150k or $250k to build a Barndominiom. I really appreciate the video and putting me in the right ball park.

I would’ve never considered living in one of these until I started watching your videos and seeing all the customs you can add on. We have 13.25 acres and want to build in the next few years but with the price of wood we may have to reconsider and build a barn.

It does give a great starting point to plan and see if a barndominium is right and economical vs a custom stick built conventional home. Appreciate it. My sister lives in Tioga, Tx. and just bought 20 acres and is in the market for a barndo with an unattached horse barn that matches for her "little ranch". It is so refreshing to see an architectural aesthetic originating from big-box-store design. Shed roof, shed walls,......... man, that is slick. Truly the best that Texas has to offer. I can park my combine out in front and it looks like that is where IT lives.

Yes, a barndo garage with a master suite and a chef's kitchen and dining area is all we need on one level. Garage to be large while the living area to be integrated within the garage.

I appreciate your candid response to a seemingly "loaded" question I see on your videos a lot. "How much per sq ft can you build a home?" There's so many variables. Real hardwood floors, or laminate? Real tile or fake? A basic ikea kitchen or a custom crafted kitchen with a 12 foot long island with real marble countertops? A kitchen can be 5 grand to 100 grand. Painted drywall throughout or shiplap? Lights? What kind and style and how many? If you want 30 lights in a house or you want 50. That could be a difference of 4 grand or more. You have to consult a builder about what you want, what your budget is, and what's realistic for you. Not badger them on KZfaq videos. These videos are showcasing what their company can accomplish for their customers and their needs.

I want a large garage/studio space with 20ft ceilings, and about 800sqft of nicely finished living space on the other side in a modern loft style with floor to ceilings windows on the top floor..

I'm from the a different region of the U.S.A and I have been in the skilled trades for decades and I see the quality of structure work and the detail that can be achieved at the design level on the interior anything is possible what caught me was the efficiency of the seaming and sealing of the building which mean very little money is lost in consumer energy and in fact can increase savings over the years. So truly amazing and being in the steel building trades for a few its nice to see the adaption to the timbers be solved and looks incredible. As I am looking to address some building needs for myself in the future I think I will be in touch to learn more about the excellent building skills you are using to accomplish the perfect home to live and play out of as one person posted archery range and I thought that's what's been on my mind for a year now. Plus a place to store the cars and keep them close and safe. Stay blessed and keep building those American dreams.

Im a General Contractor in the Tulsa area. We predominantly perform interior renovations, master baths are a large part of our scope. Ive always really liked these type structures compared to conventional construction methods. I spent 18 or so years in civil engineering and commercial construction, then transitioned to residential 7 years ago. We have completed some smaller shop type builds, but with insulation, climate control, and a lot of home type finishes. May expand these type projects as offered services to our clients. As for my family and myself we have wanted to live in a similar type home, but are always busy working for our clients 😁

An honest assessment of building a metal building of any type. I built a 2400 sq ft shop and his comments are right on the money! When we built our home and separate shop I wish there had been a barndominium builder in this area.

This is awesome work Josh. Wondering if you ever considered using thermal mass building material? I see this being used more often in Texas and the Southwest.

Thank you for being straight forward with your price. Who knows maybe within the next few years ya'll might even get a call from us if you can build in Arkansas.

Another point, if clients can, use exterior insulation as well. This provides an excellent thermal break from all your framing thermal bridges. You can go with Zip R sheathing, or throw up your sheathing then install 2” poly iso foam sheets. Another cost savings over the life of your home. Love that fact you guys use liquid flashing (assuming it’s prosoco). This keeps your conditioned envelope where it should be, plus keeps all those bugs out.

I've been wanting to do something like this on some land I own in Oklahoma, I'm not quite ready to build yet but it does give me an idea what kind of budget I need for what I want.

Great info. Thank you. A couple of practical points that always seem to be overlooked -- what are the building code (zoning) and tax implications of building a Barndominium? For some reason I thought this type of building was severely limited in geography. A county in Arizona, a place or two in Tennessee and Florida. Some places in Oregon. What kind of zoning is required?

I wish I'd known about builder grade garbage before I bought my home. I would've paid 200k extra, or whatever it cost, to have a real house that heats and cools efficiently and isn't going to constantly leak and fall apart in other ways.

Great job explaining and giving “general” costs. People want hard numbers about building something without giving specifics. It’s like someone saying “I want to buy a vehicle, and I want to know exactly how much it will cost.” All while not telling you if they’re buying new or used, a Kia vs a Ferrari, a car or a diesel dually. Specific pricing requires very specific info to get hard numbers. Keep up the great videos! Subbed.

Glad you explained prices - I am considering a future move and this caught my attention as we have an RV in storage and this solution would put it all under one roof. So if I understood you correctly the "home" part of a 2400 sq. ft. would essentially be $120 per sq. ft. and the garage part would be $40 per sq. ft.? My "back of the envelope" math says I'm looking at around $200K - then adding extra for patio/porch overhang and surprises - so $250K is still an attractive number. My other question would be your A/C and sewer/water costs, are most DFW area sites Septic/Well or city services? A/C or Heat pump supplied and what tonnage due to excessive heat in TX? (I'm in FL and NEED a 4 ton unit for 1900 sq. ft. manufactured home) Also is drainage possible in garage area for RV cleaning?

Thank you for divulging some of your pricing. I know it's not a hard figure, but it helps me to get a better idea for budgeting.
