If you are looking to move to Santo Domingo and live in the same comfort back in your home country like United States, Canada, Australia, Uk, ect. Then these are my top 8 neighborhoods you should consider as an expat. Keep in mind the cost of some of these areas can be expenses and around the same price in your home country. If you are on a budget some of these neighborhood may not work for you. Let me know which of these neighborhoods you like the most.

I want a furnished apartment in Santo Domingo from december until April or may. Just like everyone else, I want the most I can get for my money. I would rather not buy a car. I will perhaps rent them on the weekends to visit other cities. But during the week I need to have access to public transportation. I was thinking Gazcue. What do you think?

Informative video. I think I've visited all the neighborhoods in your video. I prefer Zona Colonial because of the older architecture and it's easy to walk everywhere. As I live in NYC, I don't want to live in another big city. And the nearest beach to SD is 45 minutes away. I look forward to your videos on the North Coast towns: Puerto Plata to Samana. Peace & Love.

Hi Noberis. THANK YOU! I learned more from binge watching your videos than I did PAYING $25-$40US talking to girls on Dominican Cupid for 4 years! I was beginning to feel like some of the women I was talking too knew this information like you but didn't want to share it with me. I really appreciate you for offering this information as a guideline. Why spend thousands of dollars for a 14 day stay at a resort, or because I get few hundred dollars off of my stay I have to endure a "short" sales pitch to buy a return vacation package (vacation club) when you can rent an apartment and stay for a few months with no stress? Can you do a video on where to buy good low cost furniture in DR? Thanks again. Shawn

It depends. I lived in houses when I was in Alabama. Here in South Florida im in an Apartment. I've become accustomed to these luxury style apartments that have everything you need in them. But the villas in DR are nice. I wouldn't mind having one of those too..

Funny, never thought of TACO BELL, Hooters, Krispy Cream and Little Ceasar as upper middle class but I guess every country has their standards.

Lol! That would seem not likely the case but keep in mind poor people can't afford to eat at those restaurant. If they were in low income neighborhoods no one would eat there. A Value Meal at Mc Donalds can cost about 400 pesos which is $8. The average Dominican in those neigborhoods can feed their family with that over a span of days considering they eating beans and rice. Which we eat everyday. So those American restaurants that people here consider normal its priviledged there.

Never mind you’re right -Well not sure if your assessment is on point. With the average wage in the DR at $200 a month eating at a US fast food franchise has got to be a luxury for most Dominicans. The fact that you saw school age kids eating at these joints can be misinterpreted.

@Never mind you’re right -Well that might explain part of the story for only one or a segment of the fast food clientele. But it doesn't tell me who are the other customers and where their purchasing power comes from. Stating that school kids who receive remittances from abroad are the ones who are mostly supporting the fast food industry in the DR is a flawed argument. I'm more inclined to believe that the bulk of the people who eat fast foods in the DR are not the poor but rather middle to upper middle class. Because most of these restaurants are located in the better parts of town, these kids are not gonna go out of their poor barrios just to eat at a burger joint like BK or McD. Before these multimillion dollar corporations build a restaurant and invest their money, a lot of research goes into finding the right location. If what you say is true, the first fast food franchise would be found in Cristo Rey or Gualey.
