I'm from New York and we have a lot of those major expenses here too except our healthcare is making people bankrupt and our care we receive is an absolute joke. All in all it actually seems cheaper to live in central Dublin than it is to live about an hour and 45 (I'm in central Long Island) out of Manhattan.

The truth is, lovely people, that there are thousands of people homeless and living on the streets of Dublin,including over three thousand children, respectable people are having to sleep for years in junkie hostels with their children because there is literally nowhere to sleep in Dublin, it's now 2018 and rents for a bedsit are 1,650 euros to 1,850 euros, there are no jobs, not even for Irish people, and no-one in Ireland can afford to go out except very rich tourists, childcare costs are extortionate, there's no such thing as kindergarten and educating even one child is extremely expensive because parents have to buy all the expensive schoolbooks and school supplies and pay school insurance for their child, you don't get schoolbooks free like they do in England. Dublin is now the 9th most violent city in the entire world, we had about 23 gangland murders in broad daylight in Dublin city last year, people shooting outside schools and people's flats, and that's to say nothing about all the other murders. As for racism, I'll give you a hint; Conor McGregor is Irish. All of Ireland is in a very bad situation because of the 2008 world economic collapse which destroyed Ireland, a lot of the population is now unemployed and homeless, and because Britain is leaving the EU soon, the Irish government are bringing in a bill to prevent any more immigrants getting any form of Irish welfare from now on. I'm Irish and I would love to leave Ireland but I can't afford to.If you want to verify any of what I've told you, look up a reputable source about the homelessness problem in Ireland, the unemployment and gangland crime problems here, the ridiculous expense of childcare etc.

@@applecrazy1 sensitive question buddy , kinda rude to ask someone’s salary. There is plenty of jobs in tech open here and if you speak a second language plus English , easy to get in. However rent is expensive here so might end up in sharing accommodation at start , so best advice, make your job application before you get here and come here once you secured a job , the least an interview if you have some cash for hotel . @@applecrazy1 cool. tech jobs would start minimum without experience from 1500€ per month ( that is the lowest salary with no work experience ) to 2000€ ( with experience ) and above with at least 2-3 years work experience in your field. Check rent.ie or daft.ie will give idea of rental in Dublin , depending of where you want to live . I will be honest with you most of young people live in a share accommodation or rent a studio apartment which is a bit much expensive comparing renting a room. Room in sword will go from 500€ plus deposit per month and one bedroom apartment from 1200€ ( min ) . Hope it helps . Good luck 😉

You have to be earning above a given threshold. The old or people with congenital diseases are excused from fees, hospital bills and medication costs. Plus citizens get a medical card under certain conditions. About 30% of the population have a medical card. The rest are above the threshold. But think about that €50 cost. ....taking the day or morning off work will cost you a lot more than €50 anyway.... She's young, healthy, has a relatively good job and likely isn't a citizen anyway.

The only problem is language adaptation and getting a job. Also, minimum wage is on the low side. It shows we can't have it all. Lol

joyce ngozi I think overall you would still have a better life quality in Spain than in Ireland in my opinion. Despite job and salary situation. You have better weather, no massive electricity bill (mine is around €160/month) food is fresh and local and much cheaper the list goes on... Yes wages can be better but only in certain types of jobs. And the cost of living is so high that the higher wages won’t make much of a difference. And if you end up with a low paying job you will be struggling for real. Don’t want to put you off from your plans but right now until the rental and property crisis is fixed it’s not a good time to come. There are new restrictions coming in in June/July for AirBnb rentals which should release a few properties back into the long term rental market. Currently a one bedroom apartment and that is if you’re lucky enough to beat the other 100 viewers to it is at around €1600-2300 here in Dublin. Dublin is the worst hit by the rental crisis. If you really do want to come to Ireland I would recommend avoiding Dublin but then again that’s where the jobs are 🤷‍♀️
