You are doing a great service to Ethiopia really. I’ve not been back there for more than eight years, but through your videos I could see how much the country has changed. Thank you for what you do 🙏🏽🙏🏽

Now you have a chance Betel. Keep it your priority task. Put as much money as you can and never hand out cash to anybody in Ethiopia. I have horrible experience from people I helped. They expect huge like buy them ground plus one or open a hotel for them. Just for yourself and you will come back without getting hurt.

the cost of living seems very reasonable in dollars but i can't imagine living there while getting payed in birr. its way too expensive compared to what most the local people's salaries are.

NO. Ethiopia is NOT cheap if i compare it with Asia and South America where what’s on offer is also of higher quality. Transport, housing, enmities, modernity overall. Like bookshops, cinemas, theater, sport accommodation etc. like imported goods. And since there is almost no manufacturing industry in Ethiopia or anywhere in Africa everything is imported through expensive Djibouti. Major problem.

I am not really impressed with the expensiveness of Ethiopia. I have been trying to learn more from abroad before moving but all I'm hearing is that its expensive but cheap for foreigners/expats/people making hijrah. I wouldn't feel comfortable moving to Ethiopia as a foreigner knowing I would be in the top 1% of the country and yet the the locals are suffering. This is not a good feeling. Are there any other resources I can looked into regarding staying in Ethiopia?

I am renting a 3 storey house with 5 bedrooms, 4 baths, and 2 Livingrooms with 2 kitchens, and that only costs 300 US dollars a month. So, compare to the West, it is dirt cheap. And by the way, the development in Addis Ababa is rapidly growing as you can see.

Ethiopia cost of living comparing USA for me this is not an issues becouse of the following reasons 1)economic foundation determines the quality of living 2) Jursidiction credibility in bussiness also determines 3) Ethiopia compare to USA it chip but checking background creating Sustability of bussiness and making and accessing multiple and Multi-jurisidtion bussiness it not to much preferable place to live in my experience I am living in Addis abeba but the living cost does allowed me to become computative in the profession where CPD is the major maintaining mechanism of professionalism so being not citizens of Ethiopia yes it comfortable place becouse it best place to considering Multi-jurisidtion bussiness and cases and facts on ground the nations needs to change and want to been changes thanks for advertising our nation I appericate but make it research. Based and also many Ethiopia citizens does not afford what you show on your video so please consider this most Ethiopia mid class are lower class in other country of economics living so please consider the feedback Thanks in advance

Hi I m from Malaysia. 200usd a month for a studio with toilet and balcony its pretty expensive compare with Malaysia. Because i rent, a 3 bedroom with 2 bathroom, a parking lot and garden just around usd220 a month. However I m not living in the center of Capital city of Malaysia which is Kuala Lumpur. My house around 30 minit from KL. But for food and transportation, u guys are insanely cheap. Esp for the coffee.. Wow.. And maybe your electricity, cheaper than Malaysia. But for water, i m not sure. But for me Malaysia quite cheap. In average we pay around usd2-10 per month for water. Sometime it free, since government give subsidies. My conclusion after seeing your video, i can say in total u guys more cheaper than Malaysia(Kuala Lumpur). Thanks for the great video. Keep it up, stay safe and take care. Love from Malaysia.

Hello, thank you so much for providing such clear and good information. It deeply helps for people such as me who didn't get to come in Ethiopia yet. Coming from a large city in France. The price of accommodation here (Montpellier) is around 500-700€ for 1 to 2 bedrooms. Notice that according to your salary you're likely to get money from the government to help you pay your appartement. I.e. I 'm a student and I live in an appartement that costs me 1000€, and the government give me 400€. It's sounds weird but we pay a lot of taxes here.

I have been trying to develop a plan to live in Ethiopia and keep my U.S. citizenship. The housing prices you mentioned are much cheaper than what is listed on the web. I am not Habesha and will probably have to pay more for rent than you. The price of internet service depends on your access speed. It can be cheap as $10 for a very slow connection. If you want anything resembling the internet speeds in the U.S. it will cost a lot more. The major hanging point is the financial institutions. The U.S. makes it very difficult to have a financial account outside of the country. At best, I can live in Ethiopia for a few months out of the year. I am fortunate enough to be able to work from anywhere that has a good internet system. Getting mail forwarded from the U.S. is another major problem. Electrical power failures were always a problem in Addis. I am waiting for Covid to go away before traveling again. There is a lot going on in Addis these days. There are so many people being moved from the country to the city. On my last trip to Addis, I was dodging pickpockets every day and carrying my cellphone with a death grip in my hand. How is the crime rate?

Crime rate in addis is low compared to other cities in Eth. And also you can have a fast speed wifi connection in your home which you need to pay 30$-35$ per month.

Housing and food cost are reasonable. Utility bill including internet not mentioned. A glimpse of night life might help, coz most guys are curious in that (lol)... Locating low cost hotels and hostels might help the average traveller. Helpful to offer prices in dollar terms. Good. If I were to stay long, like over a month I would take one full day to familiarise self with rail system. Taxis occasionally, but mostly train.

Internet is well expensive for Ethiopia. In Ethiopia 10 dollars as about 7 pounds odd sterling a week, about £29 per month. England's unlimited internet can be had at about £20 to £30 per month.

Well! It's somehow cheap compared to see some African Cities like Nairobi. However, we still expect you to tell us about the security of the place coz we hear lots of civil war here and there. Security is paramount and as such one needs to live in peace no matter how cheap or expensive life can be. Tnx.

Have you tried to get into a local hotel (3 stars for example)? Do they charge foreigners differently? I've heard stories where foreigners (including former ethiopians who attained foreign citizenship) would be asked to pay in USD and a higher price, which is ridiculous in my viewpoint.

Always in Birr and some charge ferangi prices for White foreigners in which case just move on. Prices are listed. In restaurants English written menues are occasionally a cheat. Always compare with the Amharic one.
