Madrid - average Spanish salaries are terrible...roughly 1000 a month yet rent is 800 - 1100. I don't how they survive or live. Carrefour is a rip off...price magically changes at the checkout.

That's crazy, and now every day prices everywhere are increasing even more 😣

I am a dual citizen working in the sea shipping and commodity trading field, I was thinking of moving to either Singapore, Cape Town or Madrid. As far as I am concerned 700 Euros ( USD 840) a month for rent in a city near Barcelona doesn't seem expensive at all compared to Singapore's USD 1,300 month and other expenses for transportation and food so if you want to live a good life in Singapore you need about USD 2,000 which is a lot of money. Spaniards love companionship so it's like if you could get a roommate you can actually have half the price por alquiler y otro gastos de vivir. Not to mention that everything is Spain is so low, so if rent and food are cheap, salaries would also be quite low.

Yes, Spain is not that expensive, especially if you work remotely for a non-spanish market and get a non-spanish salary, it could be great !

It's ok if you earn the money. Around 8 years ago I looked at cost of living in different countries, where I could just 'walk into' a job if I went to live there. Due to the types of jobs I could possibly have got, the best choice for me to be in a position to actually save some money whilst living abroad was to move to a more rural part of China, earn in the region of $1000 US per month, and live in a decent enough residence that all bills and living costs would total around $300-350 a month, depending on your own extravagance it could cost more, but you would live well enough and save some cash. Most other countries, the cost of living would eat up your wages and at best you had to look at it as a 'working holiday'. It does depend on the job or work that you do but most likely you would choose other parts of the world as a choice of location if you have particular skill sets etc. A lot has changed in 8 years though and I have not looked into it for ages. There are too many factors to say where or what is best, as it is different for many people, but the one thing I would consider is the rent. Not just how much it costs, more along the lines of how serious you are about being there on a more permanent basis, does your job mean that you may have to move to another place or can you settle? So then you think about buying instead of renting property and how it might suit you, or not, and how it would suit your circumstances. The last year has proven that things are not certain and I would not suggest that going out and buying property is the answer at the moment but I know how it is to earn just enough to pay for what it all costs, having nothing to save for a rainy day after you have paid your own way for so long, at least if you were paying into a mortgage instead of just dead money, all this time later you find yourself in year X of an XX year agreement and living in a partially owned property, apart from that your mortgage payments may be flexible and rather than paying 700Euros a month maybe you only pay 150 a week? Allowing yourself 1 day as well as 1 night out a week with the extra cash or adjusting the payments if you needed to, like I say though it will not suit everyone, the other side of the coin is being shackled to the agreement if your circumstances change whereas when renting you just give your notice and walk away if you want to. Pros and cons but be realistic with them, Spain does not pay Singapore wages and the costs in Spain are what people living there pay, out of their wages, in their Spanish jobs :s

Hey! I come from Sweden and am thinking of moving to Spain. Are there Spanish courses you can take to learn the language there?
@realandfree2 жыл бұрын
It depends where you will be living, but in most cities you will find both private and government provided classes of Spanish :)

Hey, is 2600 euros/month salary enough to live is barcelona?
@realandfree2 жыл бұрын
Hey! I would say Yes, but it depends, if you mean Gross or Net amount and which kind of flat you want etc. If you get around 2000 Net I would say a simple flat (one room/studio) would be okay, yes

Priviet krasivaja. Same in Sweden when it comes to rooms. We count all rooms except kitchen and bathroom, so in Sweden it would also be a two room apartment, but in France, Spain and many other countries they only count the bedroom. The "most important" room? Why not count the livingrooom... ? :)
@realandfree2 жыл бұрын
Hey Henrik :) I know, right?? 🙃
@jopp3786 Жыл бұрын
Probably because it's expected (in many/most countries) to have a living room, just like you expect to have a kitchen and bathroom. Listing how many bedrooms an apartment has is important to highlight because that can tell you right away if the apartment fits your situation or not.

I couldn't watch your video even though you started very good start but the background music you have is extremely disturbing and I could not concentrate on what you're saying and I let the other people in the room also to give their opinion they all felt exactly the same way you should not be having any background music when you are trying to show people important detail information. music distort all these information so sorry I couldn't finish your video.
