Back when I went to Belgium as a student from America, I had to get a language certificate for undergraduate studies, but advanced degree programs were available in English. The first year I only took the language program at the university and the cost was slightly higher (200 Euros more at that time) than cheapest degree program at the university. What happened at the end of that year, if I registered as a degree student for the following year, the government subsidized language program refunded all but 100 Euros, which made the refund 100 Euros more than the degree program's tuition. So the one year language program ended up costing 100 Euros and the remaining refund covered the next year's tuition. My Flemish skills weren't good enough to complete exams, but the professor allowed me to come back the following year. I never completed a degree program in Belgium, but I can now talk with Flemish people that visit America.

The length of the PhD programme depends, and can range from 3 to 6 years. Over 50% of our PhD's are international so yes in English

At 2:32 and 4:14 the blocked account is usually €12k-€13k this include housing expenses, living expense etc. . if we get a one year housing contract which will cost around €4k-€5k. Then will that reduce the amount of blocked account? As we have already committed a major portion of that blocked account.

You can use your blocked account for all monthly costs, including housing, living expenses etc. That is indeed what it is meant for. As mentioned in the video, your yearly costs will depend on your personal spending. We give a rough estimate and try to identify the main costs, but it will depend on your programme, housing, personal living expenses etc. what the actual cost will be

Will the cost of living such as rent be more expensive if my course take place in Brussels or Antwerp Campus? Will the school give us options to apply for “student housing” if I study in those campus? (I am considering applying for a master degree in the business field as an international student.) Thanks!

Hi Eillah, take into account that there has been a serious inflation in prices since this video was made. Prices for student accommodation in Brussels might be a bit more expensive than Leuven today. However, prices in Leuven have also increased. Please check our housing websites and the current offers for up to date prices.

Yes, for our international programmes, the language will be English. We have over 14000 international students at the moment, studying in one of our more than 100 English language programmes. We also offer programmes in Dutch.
