Krazy Lobster will take US dollars or credit card. All the little stores/stalls want cash only (US). My only advice is have some small bills in case they try to get change in pesos. You don't want to wind up with to many pesos.

I spent 7 months in Mahahual last year with my ex girlfriend who is a masseuse at Krazy lobster. If you decide to go, Krazy lobster has two price menus one in español and pesos and the other is in English and USD. You will be paying a lot more for the same item on the USD menu. Example...the shrimp soup is, or was last year, 190 pesos.. about 10 USD . On the english menu it's 14 USD. Mahahual is a nice place to visit but one thing I learned is they fleece cruise ship tourists.

@@CruisingtheworldwithJackie yes they take USD but the spanish menu in pesos has cheaper prices for almost every item on the menu.

I am told there is a local and tourist menus with our prices higher. If you can speak Spanish maybe you can get local menu. Haha. But I thought the prices were cheaper than US.

This was Sept and it was in 80s. I believe Jan will be mid 70s. I have been in Jan and been in water. I think it depends where you live. My sister from Florida probably would not. I am from MD and 75 in Jan is hot hot to me.

Yes. There is a list that you can not. Mostly controlled substances. You can Google to get list. I normally get zpacks and antibiotics.
