I found this plant at Lowes. It’s a beautiful plant and I’ve had it for at least a couple of months with no problems.

Cute fern! I bet that thing would get huge if you put it in a big container! I keep my non "hurricane" esplenium in a pot no bigger than 8 inches and sparsely water it, keeps putting new growth out yet doesn't take the entire shelf or window.

Sorry to hear, Lorraine! This one might be worth a try --- it holds up better to low-humidity conditions and to drying out better than a lot of the more common indoor ferns like maidenhair or rabbit's foot. Hurricane (and bird's nest) are great starter ferns! ---Justin, Costa Farms Horticulturist

@@CostaFarms I will TY. It went quickly. Overwatering looked like. Was fine for a month or 2 then boom, within a week. I may try again next spring again. They sure are unique and pretty.

I got one of these and only watered it twice in a month because i didnt want to overdo it. I even put a fan on it the second time because i was nervous about water collecting at the crown. 2 days later, it had fuzzy fungus and crown rot. I have 4 leaves left after pulling the rest off, treating with peroxide, repotting, and those 4 look like theyre rotting at the crown too. This is SO disappointing because its such a unique plant.

Love your videos!🪴☀️😀 I’m curious. How big can this fern get? At 1:22 it looks like the fern is quite large, outdoors, maybe on a covered porch? I bring many of my house plants outdoors for the summer and I’m wondering if I can grow this to be a pretty large size. Really cool plant btw!!!

Hi! Because this is a newer variety, we haven't seen a mature one, but we believe that over the years and with good care, it can eventually reach 4 feet across or more! ---Justin, Costa Farms Horticulturist

I have one of these and two weeks later it is sickly! I’ve killed one of these in the past. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

Sorry to year, Suet. Keep an eye out --- we continue to ship out orders of Trending Tropicals as retailers order them. Rona/Lowe's Canada just had an order leave our farm out last week, for example.

@@CostaFarmsIt's absolutely beautiful!! My fern is also clockwise. I think it propagates from leaves? if it was propagated from spore I would be amazed how on earth it knows which way to grow.

@@Langlangsland I don't think it is and since the plants I have ordered offline and from private sellers are thriving I'm gonna have to say it's the water logged pest infested plants. Not even making a big fuss. Don't expect anything. Just was telling them so maybe they could figure out a prevention for it maybe..

Mine died from over watering … will it come back ?? There’s a bunch of tiny clover looking things all over

Hi Delores! If the plant has already died from root rot, it will unfortunately not come back. You can check the roots to see if there are any healthy roots left, but if all the roots were affected, the plant will not be able to produce new growth. 🙁
