Originally people thought sites like stone henge were designed to celebrate the summer solstice but now we know it was to celebrate the winter solstice as the return of the light was a much bigger celebration than the diminishing light. My daughter is studying at Oxford University so I love getting the chance to spend time in the cotswolds when I pick her up for the holidays
