Edited because you just covered everything I wrote beyond this point. FYI check if it's an 'expiration date' or a 'best by' date. A best by date is just saying that the food might taste or look a little less nice and does not correspond to food safety at all. Additionally, in general best by dates also aren't that "real." Most things will be fine, or obviously not fine (moldy, stinky), past their expiration date.

Loved this video, my new mantra is 1% improvement is still improvement. Also maybe try different types of exercise, like you said swimming is fun! I find classic gym workouts boring but an uphill hike in nature is lovely, its much easier to exercise with a form you actually like

Literally a minute in and I'm already so excited. I, too, am living my medium life, dragging myself kicking and screaming to do things that are good for me, and slowly coaxing out the scared animal in my brain. So much of the lifestyle content on KZfaq these days is Here Is The Right Way To Do Things and I think we need more I-am-not-qualified-to-give-advice-but-I-AM-qualified-to-try-my-best girlies (gender neutral) making content, so I love the approach you're taking here!

I spent the first 8 minutes of the video just thinking to myself, “he needs to go to B&M, that’ll sort him out”. The THRILL when you did. On the note of L shaped cupboards, B&M does do a rotating disc thing where it acts like those fancy cupboards; they’re like 4 quid and you can fit quite a bit on them and make more use of that weird space. Also, they do black board stickers- write what you’re storing on the boxes, and then they’re wipeable if you were to change it up. Basically; I just re did my kitchen and B&M should’ve sponsored me tbh

I feel that treating ourselves like little animals is vital in doing the harder stuff in life like going to the gym regularly, or even the maintenance stuff like organizing and cleaning. Being motivated by a treat or benefitting from a well-being schedule of exercise like I'm a little hamster or dog is so helpful.

The main thing that keeps me going the gym is them providing towels, so if i shower at the gym i get a lovely fresh towel that i dont have to launder (and i dislike doing laundry far more than i dislike the gym)

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuper loved this vlog, felt very chill & sounds like you're doing well! And now you know even if you fall off the kitchen cupboard wagon or the gym wagon or lose your job, you know can build it back again, because you've done it before! Also love it when youtubers share that they have been struggling because it makes me feel less along in my struggles.

Hey Dan, you probably are already aware of Sort your life out in 7 days with Stacey Solomon, delightful comfort watch but also good tips on there. The main one that I've used in my tiny kitchen you can move the selves in your cupboards so they fit your stuff instead of the other way around, utterly simple and mind blowing and now my space works for me. Might help with the baking cupboard. Hope you're having a lush day

To add to your list of workout options, try and find an aqua aerobics class. I think you’d really enjoy them. They’re designed usually for older people so can be easier or harder depending on how much effort you put in but I find they have the childhood joy of swimming (we do a bunch of stuff sitting on noodles, it’s great) with like added workout that’s not just swimming laps. They’re great fun

i think balance is also a lot about constant reajustment and checking in with yourself, balance isn't achieved once but has to be kept up regularly - which is exhausting honestly 😅 glad to know I'm not the only one struggling with it and very happy to see you finding your own balance, i hope it all works out for you 💜

I'm also 34 this year and trying my best to find balance and mental clarity. I'm back in uni finishing up a second BA that I started when the entertainment industry shut down and I was faced with being homeless, working in retail, or retraining in another field. I miss acting immensely but I'm enjoying my studies (linguistics) and trying to find ways to blend the two together. Accents were what drew me to linguistics in the first place, so it's not too big of a jump really. I've been swimming and going to the gym for my overall health too, so it's nice to see others in a similar place and facing similar challenges. Thanks for this video and I wish you the best in building your routine!

I’m also going through a health improvement journey, and what helped me a lot was to sit down in December to plan my Q1 of 2024 instead of writing resolutions. For me it was less about fitness and more about physical medical health, so I’ve knocked out all my tests and scans and whatever. My goal for Q2 is to ease into exercise and better eating habits in time for the onset of spring and summer, because I knew I wouldn’t be able to muster up the motivation and energy for physical workouts from January to March considering how dark it still is this time of year. But instead, I’ve started to learn code as a “thing” to do since I sit in front of my laptop for hours anyway. We’re in the life improvement club together, Dan!!

It looks like you can move the cupboard shelves or maybe buy additional shelves for the cupboards. And don't be afraid to switch what you have in the cupboards, for instance I would consider putting your mugs and glasses (or plates if they fit) in the small ones, and then have the baking stuff in one of the bigger ones :) I'm so gonna go through my spice cupboards tomorrow, have been thinking about it a lot lately :)

First off, well done Daniel. Im glad things worked out. But.... Am I th only one who would take that specialized spice cabinet and use it to store eating and cooking utensils then put spices, condiments, and so on in a skinny cabinet or drawer? I probably am. I've just found I like that kind of thing right near or above the stove to grab if needed while cooking. It has the added bonus of keeping spices away from heat so they aren't getting warm (because I've been told that effects flavor. I have no great evidence for this, but it seems reasonable?) And if you get that one or few bulkier items that wouldn't fit with skinny, that would be okay. This really probably just me.
