I have had an abundance of Swallowtail Butterflies this year and I always have tons of all sorts of bees and ladybugs too. Yes, I try to keep it pollinator friendly!

They DO need to go. I am trying everything to get them under control. I was just reviewing last years video of Iris and there are so many missing this year! Argggggh.

I am so glad you spoke about not cutting back iris in spring. I do take out the odd brown stem, they just pull right off but I love the foliage mixed into my garden. I hope you had fun at your shopping experience, I am headed to my local nursery too! I made a promise to get only one plant and I hope I can stick to that :)

I behaved myself, I bought only things I needed. And because I am signed up for their newsletter I got a free 4 inch plant which was a jalapeno pepper plant. That was an unexpected surprise.

Yes! Thank you! Yes, that is so true and though it takes me longer to do chores when I decide to film it does show how I manage things in my garden. It isn't pretty all by itself. I hope you can hear my poor old knees crackling as I stand up from crouching.

Hello there dear flower patch lady, oh my goodness. Im definitely needing to pay attention. I do struggle cutting things back.im going to be sensible and turn overa new leaf 😊. I will sort out the spindle y clematis that I have, and hope for new,I have 3 thst struggled as I hadn't planted out sensible y..so that's my plan for weekend. Pam im so happy watching your rose cutting s doing so good. I have a red rose climbing, itsxred but not deep red.thismorning I noticed thst as it was looking through the window (as it does in n the windy times) it looked different. Its got roses on it that ard dog rose 😮. Oh and buds too.how did that happen?.I do have a dog rose in ghe fsrden but this bush is not one..oh just look at all your lovely lush plants, poor flower accidentally chopped off,but it will bring pretty indoors. off, definitely think your plant support s are so useful znd definitely blend in so well..jolly well done working so hard whilst filming for us,😊.your hat is perfect and really suits you..lovely video pam,enjoy your trip to garden centre 😊. Thank you, have a great time taking care of your clematis for better blooms. Interesting about that rose, I wonder why. I do not that my Pretty in Pink Eden rose is not that but the regular Eden. But since I do love the regular Eden too it is fine. My rooosters were rehomed yesterday so no more crowing in the videos. Unless my neighbors rooster decides to chime in but he crows much less when mine are not here to call to him.

Ugh! Mosquitoes!😩 we are out of drought and the only good thing about it was no mosquitoes. The first hatching has happened and they are out full force. Have the zappers up and fighting back. Wore a head net and went to the Deep Woods Off yesterday. It was not making gardening enjoyable as I was sweating and with glasses-I almost cut the irrigation twice as I couldn’t see. They weren’t getting me but the buzzing near my ears still made me want to swat at them. I grew up in an area with creek, brook and pond and I despise them. Your flowers are really showing off in this video!🤩. I can only hope to get great peonies. They seem to last longer in part shade like spring bulbs. It will take a few more years to get that shade. The oak I despise where it’s at by the patio as it keeps leaves all winter, but the change in the growth of astilbe and Columbines is remarkable as they follow the shade. As my soil improves the flowers are getting more aggressive and it will allow me to chance more plantings outside of the wildlife fencing. I pulled out some borage, and coneflower that was in brassica bed and the Columbine needs to move as well. Looks like a breezy wonderful day out today and should keep those pests at bay. I still have a lot of sowing to do in the north garden. I wish I had plucked those Butterfly Milkweed out of the flower path now before they got to bloom stage. I leave the flowers multiply in the orchard paths and have a yellow and orange milkweed there and look really great this year. The yellow ‘Hello Yellow’ was the weaker always and something kept nipping it, but it may have been butterflies now that I think of it. We have sand and just beware this milkweed is loving all the arborist chips that have broke down and looks like it’s planning a takeover. 😅. If so I have areas it can do just that. Those gophers we had to keep at them constantly the whole year. You don’t have grass yard so can’t see them running everywhere but we could and we set celery leaf rat traps consistently and they are gone now. 😂I guess you can hear them chomping!😂. Are you sure they aren’t Voles? We had a visit from those bulb eaters last year and used peanut butter on covered rat traps to keep birds out. Have to stay on it as they multiply rapidly. My next job is getting more areas covered with Milky Spore to take care of J. Beetle grubs. The mole in the garden is telling me the places I need to concentrate on. It works great as we haven’t had any moles in the yard in over a decade-it’s been working that long. I use 9 gauge wire in hoops to help support flowers. Crossing the wires makes them more stable. I’m shying away from stakes or sharp edges in the garden since my recent flip backwards with a paring knife in my hand. My foot caught on boards to hold bug netting in place and back I went. Especially rebar!! If I had flipped onto that I would have impaled myself. Getting big clamps to hold bug netting in place-I’ve had it with stuff in the walkways. Thank you for the tips!

They are definitely gophers, I had voles in Idaho when we lived there for short of a year so I am familiar with them. I am trying all sorts of traps and I did try the rat traps with celery leaves but so far they have not gone for them. I guess I could put peanut butter and celery leaves to see if that will attract them to the trap. You are correct about spiked things in the garden. I try to remember to put terra cotta pots on top of anything like that which is shorter. Taller stakes are not as much of an issue.

@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse ahh, sounds like you have gophers with a refined pallet because of all those yummy things to eat in your garden. I just looked up what they like and peanut butter may do the trick. Try and cover the trap in a large tube or another cage to keep birds out. They apparently have a broad menu. There was nothing here when we moved in so I guess that celery was a welcomed treat as it worked amazingly well. We no more than set the trap and walk 10 feet away and it went off. Lol, we had over 50 in no time.

@@dustyflats383250! Oh dear, yes, I need to do a lot more research on what they will go for as bait. They seem to be quite adept at avoiding the traps. I do cover the ones on top of the ground, I was afraid the resident skunk would set it off and then release his dismay and stink us out during the night.

Lol 😂 I'm still trying to find a balance between new beds, drip, planting etc vs. maintenance 😁 One of these days, I'm going to try growing clematis. Don't know why they intimidate me 😂 Question 🙋🏼‍♀️ and you've probably mentioned it previously, but where do you shop for your specialty iris? I'd like to slowly increase my variety. Also, I don't cut iris either 😅 and they just keep increasing . Such a work horse in my garden. Have a beautiful day!!

I get mine from Schreiners Iris Gardens and Suttons Iris Garden. I have some picked out from Mid-America Garden to add to my collection. Recently I visited Hortons Iris Garden in Loomis, CA and ordered some. It is a lovely garden worthy of a visit. When I go to pick them up they will have lots of zinnias and other flowers blooming to cut if I want. As lovely as it was this Spring I can only imagine how gorgeous it will be when we go.

I love your new hat. It looks great on you. Your garden has just bloomed and exploded profusely. It's just beautiful. Thank you for all the tips on cutting back Irises, Phlox, and Clematis, I think my clematis is a group two as well. I have the Dr. Rupert or Dr. Rupple? Where did you get those cutters like the scissors that you were using and the beginning of the video? I love those.❤❤

I have had them so long I can't remember but they are called Grass Shears. Dr. Ruppel is very similar in color to my Killian Donahue but in reverse, the outer edges of the petals are the lighter color whereas the Killian has the lighter color on the inside of the petals. Interesting.

Oh I know who youre talking about....The Perennial Garden yt channel..they are in Denmark....2 guys who are martied...seriously that weather over there fosters such beauty. They take tons of cuttings and grow ALOT from seed.

It could be on the invasive plant list for your area and that is why it is not available. In that case you wouldn't want to plant it anyways.

I bought some iris bulbs last year from HD however I haven’t had any blooms do they take a while before they bloom?

Sometimes the bulbs from big box stores are not as big or mature as the ones from the Iris farms and as long as you planted them correctly they should do fine. Just make sure they are not planted too deeply.
