tbh what i like most about this season is its not even the nostalgia driving the fun, its just fun. honestly the ONLY issue i can find with this season is that heals in general feel kind of scarce, but everything else is amazing

Og Fortnite should stay as a permeant side mode ( with rotating seasons ) . I’m glad they kept the new movement mechanics , it makes the game 10x better. Only things I’d say is that they should add more shields, nerf grenade launchers, and also make a no turbo building mode for players who aren’t good at the game but still want to have fun .

This season is probably the most fun I've ever had in all my years of playing Fortnite, and I never even played on the OG Map back in Chapter 1

I totally agree with simplicity being the route to go with fortnite, especially in comparison to Chapter 4 which in design wasn't bad but as time went on, epic was trying to do way WAYY too much with the game. Vaults with bosses in the early game, side bosses in the mid game and loot island toward the end just felt like sensory overload for me and almost too "routine" like and as the chapter went on it was starting to really take away that charm of the game. Another thing that makes Chapter 1 so good is the loot pool. I think not having every AR have a dot scope on it is a lot more fun, the random bloom dips into fortnites wackiness and almost give the gunplay an arcade like feel which was lost when guns started becoming so militarized. Chapter 1s loot pool also surprisingly makes build mode a lot more approachable, Not having floppers, pizza, splashes, slurp juice and other instant heals makes it so that even if you're fighting a mechanically skilled player, landing a good shot on them is genuinely punishing and they cant just build away and instantly have all their health back after slipping up. I have been having a blast on OG fortnite for the short time its been out so far, playing squads with friends I used to play with back in the day. I think while Epic knowns how successful this season drop would be and how much of an impact THIS version of fortnite has had on the entire world, this season still might be a test to see what direction they want to take the gunplay and overall gameplay going into chapter 5, I wouldn't be surprised if there were no more augments and 15 different side quests popping up everywhere in chapter 5 and instead they take the simple route and let fortnite be fortnite.

I honestly felt like people were blinded by nostalgia and this season would be bad, but It is the most fun I had in years of playing this game. I played maybe 2 games of Chapter 1 back then and I started fully playing since Chapter 2 season 1. I now understand why this map was the best map out of all the chapters!

The idea of ranked drives away most of the sweats and the casuals can have fun. With the fun of chapter 1 but mechanics of chapter 4, this is my favorite season by far

Two things chapter 1 did that I'd like to mention: The mountains on the map are high up and hard to reach, you can either walk up them one way or not at all. This makes final circles more tense by getting rid of space instead of being an easily traversable landscape, and imo is better compared to future chapters with fewer and bigger mountains you can walk up from nearly any angle. The loot pool is more understandable with some fun additions in between. For example, a regular ar, burst, scoped for longer range, suppresed for stealth. Fast shotgun and slightly slower shotgun for more damage. More explosives to add chaos and fun to gameplay. Bushes, smoke grenades, impulse grenades, boogie bombs for even more fun. All meds are simple and scarce, so the player has to work around those limits and play carefully instead of pushing and easily healing back to full. Vehicles like golf cart and shopping cart, which use no gas and arent crazy fast nor provide much protection but are fun to mess with

At first I was scriptural about the sprinting/mantling, but I’m actually glad they have it in the OG season

i agree with it being better than the original. new mechanics with old map and vibe... epic combined the best part of the oldest and newest seasons, mantling sprinting and a couple more... love it, fortnite really is in its peak right now.

Yesterday I played a game where I had a sound bug, I couldn't swing my pickaxe, I couldn't interact with anything, and almost all of the textures on the map weren't loaded. Truly felt like OG Fortnite there. On top of all that, for the last 3 chapters I've been almost exclusively playing Team Rumble. Now I play Battle Royale and actually prefer it and enjoy it. Something about being back feels right in every way.

My favorite part of the chapter 1 map is all the locations that are decently sized but still not a named location, like the club near flush factory and the stadium on the left side of the map, those along with plenty of random houses and building throughout the map make it much more enjoyable

I just wish that the old gun models came back especially for the grey, green and blue bursts then the season would be perfect

Story line wise it makes sense we have mantling and sprinting cuz we learned that over the years. Cars don’t work because we didn’t know how to make them work until chapter 2. And I’ve always thought we couldn’t swim cuz the water was too thick. When the black hole happened, it made 2 maps which made the water thinner, so we now can swim.

The return of Chapter 1 has really made me rethink how I play the game; I used to have so much fun goofing around with my brothers and trying not to die, but in recent seasons I have been taking the game more seriously. I realized that the more serious I am about the game the less fun it really is I won't remember if I get just one more sweaty victory royale, but I will remember memeing around. That's what Fortnite is, one big meme with an incredibly captivating and hilarious story (Ariana Grande is canonically an alien mind reader, Iron Man weaponized a legion of battle busses to defeat Galactus, and a big purple cube named Kevin is an alien weapon to destroy reality). I love this game, but whenever I try to take it seriously my love for it dies.

yesterday i went skybasing with my OG squad and a other squad was also skybasing so we connected the skybases and danced... just like the old times... I LOVE IT

Came back for the memories after not playing for years, happy about the result. If the map and game stay in the old style, and don't fall back to the modern ways, I'll keep playing. The fact they haven't made it to a season 10 since chapter one shows they are doing something wrong.

We all know that heals are harder to get but i think its kinda good, because in last chapter if i cracked someone and push him, he usually had 200 hp again and ready with a shotgun. I think it gives more intensity to the game

I honestly agree with you Tedius, this season is actual fire, I find it really entertaining and it’s great to see it return for only a month not only that, but it having the new mechanics such a tactical sprinting, zero build, Unreal Engine 5 Graphics, and so much more makes the whole game even faster and look even more exciting. OG Fortnite was so successful on release and people absolutely loved it, and it’s absolutely amazing how it’s back in a new remastered way! They should be really doing this more like they used to, they have a chance of making chapter 5 like this in a way, but with something new and interesting this time. i never played ch1 but even I was more hyped for this then anything in ch4. Ive been loving every second playing in all the OG POIs and I hope they keep this as a side mode in the future.

Who else remembered when they got their first dub? The time when you got your first dub and finished your first battle pass was unforgettable. In my opinion they need to add something NEW that’s not big, so people can see it will be nostalgic in the future. It is a risky feature for Epic Games to make though and it can go wrong, but it should not be major or alter the gameplay to keep that nostalgic feeling.

I have only had ONEwave of nostalgia when playing, and it wasn't even because of the season. ur was because me and my duo were having a fun time and we rotated to a place where i had my first ever fn memory. I like the factor of having a fighting chance now. I can now double edit, crank consistently, and actually win fights very often. I appreciate the map coming back as it's the reason why i come back so much. but knowing i can ACTUALLY win unlike c1, feels so much more fun and i feel like i can have a nice refresh even i'm ranked and zero build.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I think the design of the map in 2023 has been better than the original. I played the original back in the day too. I do like the novelty of playing on the OG map, but it feels dated compared to today's map

Been saying it for years, smaller more close together poi’s with a small to medium size loot pool is best for the game. Being able to rotate fast from point to point is what makes the fun and enjoyable. Chapter 3 s1 had it close but that’s only cuz of the spider gloves, without that it would’ve been a bust

What I enjoyed about chapter 1 was the chaos and freedom you used to have willingly The chaos was so fun from one POI there’s a whole war going on and you see it from a hill away and then boom another person appears or you land at paradise palms and drive with a random team in the race track you could do anything even if it ment not getting a dub it was fun also the fact that all the terrain was random also gave a good sense of being able to hide which the other maps did do so well in (Chap 3 was alright tho)

I have to disagree because the shotgun lootpool is unbalanced aswell as the AR lootpool. There was no reason to nerf the Heavy Shotgun and Burst AR so heavily. It's still pretty good but CH1 was better for me because of the variety. The Scoped AR is also ruined.

The fact that I'm having so much fun on this Season is a testament to how well designed the original map was compared to post Chapter 2 maps. I really thought I'd play for a week and then resume not touching the game.

honestly if they make this OG season a mode I'll be playing more often the thing is old seasons feels more like fortnite instead of an anime game, proud of epic for once and i want them to keep it this way, it hurts to see people hate on a company that gave us amazing memories in the past.

With the rocket having a time machine, and even before learning that, ive been wondering. Also, I have a theory (just know they arent that good): since kevin is going to get to the zero point this time, and absorb it, I think this is what slone meant when she said the cube almost destroyed the island in operation skyfire. Maybe it couldnt pull the zero point out in real chapter 1, so it tried to drip into loot lake, (I dont know why). This time though, because of Jones' tampering, Kevin is able to pull and absorb the zero point.

man...i started at S1C1 and i pretty much stopped playing on S3C2 and the game feels like i never left it. its insanely good. the sprinting mechanic is new, but ill get used to it, otherwise this is the most fun ive had since season X.

i swear like everyone else this season, this is the most fun ive had since.. for a LONG time probably the one season i enjoyed was Chapter 3 Season 1 because that was just a taste like chapter 1

Personally, I've enjoyed every map thus far and I came into Fortnite in late Ch.1 season 8 (I was a few tiers shy of getting OG Peely before season 9 dropped) I definitely enjoyed my time with chapter 4 tho I do feel kinda sad that ch 3 and 4 were so comparatively short compared to ch.1 and 2

I hope they give this type of treatment to the Chapter 2 & 3 islands as well.

another detail about how popular it is, 3 days after the release, THERE IS STILL A 5 MINUTE QUEUE AT PEAK HOURS, never before, since they added queues in chapter 3 season 2, has it lasted even a day.

I actually like the tons of open space and big map, games are longer and have more endgame people

The ONLY complaint i have is that build mode is basically inaccessible for players like me whop haven't played in years or new players in general because everyone is TOO good at it, zero build og feels better to play than i expected and i honestly think its the superior mode when paired with sprinting and mantling

Lowkey nostalgia aside, the game itself is more fun but it will never beat the actual feeling of getting on in 2018 after school to play a new update

I hope epic learns from this and keeps the chapter 1 map as a secondary mode in the future

The impulses suck and the grapplers are mid, sheilds are so hard to find, and it's near impossible to find good guns off spawn because of the lack of chests. The map is so simple with pretty much no cover anywhere. I understand that it's just for nostalgia but come on. If I try playing build mode I just get absolutely destroyed because I'm mid at building. The guns do basically no damage and as someone with really good aim, having no assault rifles with a scope that does decent damage is really frustrating. I can't wait for chapter 5.

boy i wish boxfighting was never invented and we would go back to the pre-2020 skill ceiling... the skill gap is honestly too big for its own good in the game right now

Those that complain about the tactical mechanics need to remember that the game started off as a beta and didn't come out of beta up until chapter 2 I believe.

To me it’s better and worse sprinting and mantling are good. Even though I thought sprinting would break the map it hasn’t. However many Leung would of never had a problem it’s a qol change essentially. I just wonder when we get to later seasons if sprinting will be broken due to the different mobility and all. Overall it’s good but the things making it worse is what we just lost. Cough swimming cough. Swimming was the reason I didn’t want the og map back as it was due to the annoying water walking or cars which I remember everyone being so hyped about the announcement. But it is fun and I just hope future maps will be like half old some new locations and the rest remixes. Also I was disappointed to see that they didn’t take the time to name landmarks as it sucks as it’s a nice addition. But yeah I want future maps to have c1 and 2 locations as I think it’s safe to say they were the best maps. Also make them the chapter 2 and 3 size and not 4 and 1. C1 s map has the pass of being the first but c4 was dumb how it was smaller. The bigger maps are better due to people not dying so quickly as there’s more room. Also make the maps packed like chapter 1 with names areas and chapter 2 with landmarks. It would just help the game with maps. Also just keep fun items I don’t give a shit if an item doesn’t fit with a seasons theme. No one dies besides people who want to be immersed if fucking fortnite, a game that makes no sense. Basically I just want flint knocks, cannons, shopping carts, etc. to always be in game. I think we should leave fun items and if you are worried about balance and competitive, just disable them in competitive like they do with new features. To me it’s dumb I mean make the normal modes like unvalted always with all old weapons. I know it would be a lot and annoying to get what you want but then make it so you can change what gun it is from the weapon class in your inventory like how crafting was accessed. It would open up room for more fun and strategy. Also work on colllab mythic reskins for fun and then they are always available in creative mode at least. In conclusion I just think fortnite needs to embrace there past more and make more items return, also I’m glad the superior 3 burst returned but now just rename the 2 burst something different same for the c3 heavy shotgun.
