33:02 - That's Slimer, the Ghostbusters' mascot. When the Ghostbusters Saturday morning cartoon aired back in 1986, Slimer was portrayed as a helper ghost who was mischievous but had good intentions and always wanted to be part of the team. This is why in this movie, he's portrayed much differently than in the first movie.

Slimer was basically the mascot of the cartoon series, so that's why he's in this movie a lot. The first movie came out before I was born, but the cartoon came out shortly and I was a massive Ghostbusters nutjob running around with my proton pack with my friends and all the latest spin off merch, they were probably the biggest thing in my childhood until we all started to morph into teenage mutant turtles. This was the first movie I ever saw in the cinema, good times. The ost for both films bops too.

Yes, the cartoon, where Slimer was the Marketably Cute Critter, was a HUGE 80's Saturday-morning hit between movies, and fueled half the marketing. That probably explains why Slimer's a "good" character now, as well as why Tully now somehow actually knows its name. Particularly considering he never encountered it, last time, and it didn't have one back then.

The funny part about this movie, is that the river of slime gets explained in the video game from 2010. Evo Shandore who built the building Dana lived in in part 1 also built a facility that was pumping slime into the sewers under New York... which caused Vigo to manifest in the painting. Ghostbusters 2 does an excellent job of continuing the story which is what a good sequel should do, and it acknowledges the fact that time passed. Also: The line Louis has about the equipment being heavy is in many respects a slight dig at Bill Murrary who complained the most about the weight of the Proton Packs in the original film... which was understandable when the fully loaded ones were used, because those weight 30 pounds..... however he still complained when they used he light weight models which only weighed 10 pounds.

The cartoon series of Ghostbusters had started before this movie came out. In the cartoon, Slimer (the green ghost who loves to eat) was their friend/mascot in the cartoon. I was glad that they kinda let that carry over into this movie. I'm glad Mary liked and enjoyed this movie.

Did you know? The boy at the birthday party at the beginning of the film is Jason Reitman the son of the director. Jason directed the new 3rd Ghostbusters movie "Ghostbusters Afterlife" that is set to release next month in theaters. 😊

I actually do prefer GBII to GB 1. I wore this movie out on VHS. I also find there are more quotable lines. I used "Death is but a door" a surprising amount. And I Vigo is one of the great villain introductions.

It's worth noting that if you enjoy the movies, the animated show from the 80's was equally loved by me and many other kids my age growing up. If you can find it in your spare time, I'd recommend it. You can even see from the gadgets and style, the types of toys that would have been produced back then.

It's very cool to see how afterlife was actually the perfect way to bring the film to the masses.. spengler here literally was doing science at the expense of his friends... And family i guess... Afterlife he died alone doing exactly the same thing... Was all for a reason but i liked that continuation.. now spenglers blood lives on in Phoebe and her mom his daughter.. it was a story 30+ years in the making.. ❤
Ghostbusters Afterlife made me so friggen HAPPY!!!
