This performance of this song at this show is probably my all-time favorite from Band-Maid. So sensual, passionate, grungy - absolutely amazing!

One of many Band-Maid gems that sometimes gets lost in the shuffle. Absolutely top-shelf Band-Maid IMO.

I think a better word for Saiki's style in this song is " Sultry " . It's like she's going fishing using words and motions as bait ! Kanami's solo is like a scream of bottled up passion that can't hold back any longer ! The stuttering effect on Saiki's vocals are like a semi-controlled release of emotion, as though you think you might still be in control of your emotion ! Awesome track ! Thanks GMG !

I propose a compilation album of all their B sides, extras, and non-album tracks and call it "Besides". It would rate with their best.

So glad Band-Maid had the good sense to document this entire live performance at Studio Coast back in 2017 otherwise we may not have had an official live version of "Matchless Gum" , just fan cam footage, which is perfectly fine, though it certainly couldn't match the audiovisual quality of the video above. One of my absolute personal favourites which is saying something, considering that it's Band-Maid. Rarely played live though I'm eternally grateful that it was performed on that occasion. If you don't happen to own a copy of the Studio Coast show on Blu-Ray, do so as it's an absolute must own item ( Have 3 copies in my collection. 1 on DVD, the other 2 on Blu-Ray)✌️❤️🤘🌏

Love this song. The name of the song actually comes from a byegone era where gum was smoked, not chewed. When transitioning over to the chewable kind, a small amount of units were sold without matches. They are priceless today, but not as much as Band-Maid😉

Robert Yasko commented on Local Band Smokeout that Miku wrote this about a couple so well matched that they stuck together like old gum. Staying together even if it might be for their mutual detriment. Sounds pretty passionate to me ! ❤️🕊️

Yeah this is a great song - so inventive. Good spot on the stop in the solo. On the title, I think that (typically for Miku) it is a double-meaning. It evokes "unparallelled sweet thing" but also "unpaired sticky thing". The lyrics are from the point of view of someone who is hopelessly infatuated.

Proof that Band-Maid's b-sides are better than most bands a-sides. "Matchless Gum" is glorious!

This has been one of my fave's for a while, and I think maybe the band's as well, they seem particularly intense performing it.

One of my favorite all time tracks by Band-maid, and strangely underrated. It's so Band-Maid, it should better known.

I get psychogenic shivers with nearly every Band-Maid song. It’s like a music-drug they fiendishly inject into their music to keep you addicted… in a good way, of course. Take Matchless Gum - the classical-like passage with that hunting chorus pedal and low bass effect just after the solo - especially the last two chords with the counter bass notes. It’s chilling, And the way Saiki soulfully attacks the first word “ I “ in the last lines of the official Choose Me MV, “I cannot wait forever…” combined with the raw, tribal drum and funky bass pulls. Pure rock phrasing. She only does it in the official MV.

When I first heard this song, I was surprised by Saiki's vocal scratching and Kanami's unexpected solo. It has been my favorite song ever since. By the way, are your headphones HD559 or 569? I have headphones from Audio Technica, SONY, AKG, etc., but I like Sennheiser and use the HD558 and 599 the most, so I was curious and asked.

MISA MISA MISA!!!!! Love the song HATE the live version the Backing track is so far FORWARD it overpowers and I dislike it intensely.

Never heard this one. Never heard about this one. It is not my immediate favorite. But, it has its charm and show their good workmanship. Some nice parts. And maybe, if I hear it some times it might grow on me.
