He doesn't take into account the speed by which Canada could mobilize troops. Most people in rural and Northern Canada are already familiar with weaponry. At the end of the second World War the population of Canada was only about 12 million yet it had the third largest Navy in the world and the fourth largest Air Force.

And honestly, the real amount of Canada's war effort and donations to Britain are truly immense. The manufacturing was a well oiled organized feat, creating 1million combat vehicles, then there was aircraft production, weapons, ammo and ordinance, food stuffs, raw materials, the construction of the commonwealth airtraining program called the PLAN which Canada payed billions of dollars for, not to mention the 1billion dollar donation and further loans in the billions range in today's money is tens of billions. While supplying over 250k fighting men.

Actually it takes. Russia acts pretty rationally since the Khrushchev (or whatever you butcher his name), and since the Putin it acts extremely rationally. The is no reason for Russia to invade Canada, and lots to lose in terms of international trade, not to mention that China would probably use the opportunity to attack Russia and take eastern Siberia for it's resources. I think Russia is going to duck down for the next decades and mainly fear of Chinese agression over Siberia.
@HeyImLucious
@HeyImLucious 5 жыл бұрын
@@SparrowNoblePoland The main point of the comment was just as a joke b/c of Russia's stereotypical *"ANGERY"* nature. Russia obviously isn't angry all the time but they are the only contemporary 1st world power to annex territory through force of arms in quite a few decades. Whether or not Sevastople/Crimea/Ukraine/etc. belongs to Russia or not is a completely separate discussion. Just pointing out that it happened.

@@nicholasbrassard3512 Are you joking? You must be joking. As I write this, the government is seeking bids to buy new pistols. To replace the ones that we've had since WW2. Which were actually made as lend-lease aid to the Chinese Nationalist faction to fight Japan, but ended up surplus. Not long ago we bought some second-hand F-18's from Australia because our 40-year-old jets are falling apart and we've been arguing about how to even have a fair contest for a replacement for about 15 years. Our navy can't meet our NATO commitments because they literally don't have enough working ships to defend the coastlines. Our (second-hand) submarines keep catching fire - while under water! And we can't seem to figure out who's even going to build replacement ships, or when. We sent peacekeepers to Mali in 2018. The comment from the general who reviewed the troops when they arrived was that we need to purchase new uniforms because the current ones are literally falling apart at the seams and our soldiers are wearing rags. We aren't ordering new ones, though. We're arguing about whether we should get the same fancy digi pattern camo that Russia and the US use instead of sticking to the CADPAT pattern patented by our own government. With all of that, one thing I will say for sure about the Canadian Forces is that they're well trained. Every Canadian soldier I ever talk to about their foreign service has tales of being treated as elite military royalty by our allies. They know our gear is leftover junk, but the soldier carrying it will go through hell and come back to tell you that he planted our flag when he got there.

Except the nukes didn't go away? Both powers have treaty-declared weapons stockpiles deployed and with the capability of striking one another. Neoliberalism and economic interconnectedness have nothing to do it, conflict between the US and Russia is off the table for the same reason it was during the Cold War: Mutually Assured Destruction. There's a reason we didn't send troops to the Ukraine, and it has nothing to do with preserving Russo-American trade links. It would have resulted in a nuclear conflict. Considering that the Russian military, when operating outside of Russia, has an exceptionally poor history (primarily due to doctrine and in-grained nationalistic ideology), and that the Canadians are a resourceful people. Furthermore, even while the USA in your scenario would remain "neutral" (although Canada is one of the largest American trading partners and an historically staunch ally), the American people, however, would not remain neutral. There would be an unending flood of weapons and patriots north into Canada, including many anti-tank / anti-aircraft weapons as well. It would quickly turn into a colossal strategic failure for Russia (not to mention a horrendously expensive one).

One major problem with your analysis. Canadians in every world war has been able to amass a large military in a short time and Canadians are amongst the best trained in the world. Your analysis is based on the assumption that Canada would not build up it armed forces quickly. From what we are seeing from the current Russian invasion in Ukraine, the Russian Army is poorly equipped and using substandard equipment. The Russian army tactics are at best poorly organized. I would guarantee that Canada would have a million person armed forces within a number of months.

Canada would not need any help because Russian Generals are not idiots. Russia would not invade anywhere you indicated because geography would defeat them at those sites. Canada would not even fight in the arctic archipelago as the weather and horrendous logistics would do the job. The sites you identified are essentially barren frozen rocks. It is extremely expensive to supply small groups of soldiers in the arctic in peace time and there are no local resources. Forget about supporting a large military outpost with supply lines being harassed. Either east or west coast invasions face bottlenecks which prevent Russia from using numerical advantages to win tactical victories. The Canadian population and industrial centres are protected by geography which would ultimately allow Canada to generate localized numerical superiority to Russian forces at any invasion site. Something that would not be lost on Russian Generals.

Canadian military is equipment depleted and strung out. they are down on personnel by over 20% and bleeding troops, militia/reserve is at an all time low, technical's are spread thin to 'train' various CAF and militia units. These 'walls' mean nothing when the red team has the mobility and air superiority to do what they want in their own time. There are some serious hill boys that will lay a beating on most Russian troops and be into the action fast, but they are extremely limited and once gone, the window is no longer valid to train them. One thing to consider, though it’s pretty much impossible to calculate, is how savage Canadians tend to be when it comes to war. Canadians were some of the best trained, and most brutal soldiers during ww1 and ww2. I suspect that if Russia did manage to take some land in Newfoundland and BC (especially Newfoundland), that they would face harassment from not only the Canadian military, but from ad hoc militias that locals would form. Turn their love of hunting deer and caribou, into a love of offing the Ruskies.

Sounds good, now it would be even better once the military has better weapons after it's done all it procurement which is going to take decades. But if we had a larger military budget it would deff help. I spent 8 years in the Canadian forces, and served in Afghanistan. ATM our military is in the midst of upgrading everything again, and switching tactics in many fields. Yes were small but each infantry soldier is multi-trained, unlike other militaries where each soldier is train for a specific task. Love all your videos.

Aside from the LGBT rights i think canadians are more similar to russians than americans. In every rural town in Canada most people own guns and drink like fish and consider it fun to camp outside year round(snow or not) drinking and shooting random shit(tvs our empty bottles furniture and appliances). And just to point out we dont have too many "big cities" .

I live in northermn Quebec and thinking you can move here up north with tank is a joke, theres like 1 road leading to montreal, the 117, it would be easier invading thru the atlantic and being fired at all the way to montreal, ottawa and toronto than going north, labrador and Yukon is the same, only 1 road, i think it would even be easier going thru the USA and the US army than going north, guys i can hardly make 1km with my atv before getting stuck, i cannot think an army trying to get thru.

There is no potential 'If America didnt get involved' scenario. Thats not because of any connection between Canada and the US, even if we hated each other, the US wouldnt let it happen. Why? Because the 49th parallel is just too close for Russia to be, to the US, its just too close. All potential first strike and response capabilities fall apart if all Russia has to do it lob nukes over a border, and there is no way the US would ever stand for that loss of strategic advantage. The other problem here is, 85% of the Canadian population and its centres are close to the border, which means there is no one or anything of any value up north to bother capturing. Add to that the seriously dense forest to get south and you're not going anywhere. Add to that the west coast (the easiest access to Canada) is a rock with a full dense forest on top of it. There is no long stretches of beaches like France. The only way in by sea, is the Vancouver Juan de Fuca Straight ... and if you have ever been there, you would quickly realise that you don't want to be sailing aircraft carriers and destroyers in there, you wouldnt last long and it would be difficult to escape from. All in all ... it wouldnt be a minor success, but likely a dismal failure ... and a pretty dumb idea to waste a video on.

@@Armysqueaky4159 - A - I know ... duh. But an incomplete or incorrect simulation (not sTimulation) can be discussed as we like on a public forum, you need to let go of needing to bash on someone if you have nothing to add, makes you look childish. B - Name one factual error, just one. You cant, because you have no idea regarding the reality of the subject. If you mean spelling or grammatical error ... name that as well, as in comparison your spelling and grammar suggests that you're either native to another language, or ... just that unlearned and illiterate. I mean really ... read what you wrote ... really. C - See above ... possibly the worst grammar I have seen today online, and thats saying something, well done. Otherwise you seem to need to insult others for contributing to the conversation ... try therapy for self-hate / self esteem as well as potentially a psychosis. The only other reason you may blurt on a thread like this is to purposefully hate on others, possibly due to mommy/daddy issues growing up, leaving you to think the only to be strong is by bullying. Either way, just leave intelligent debate to the adults.
