I felt the same way about Tender is the Flesh. I wanted to know more about the government, how the country handled it when they first found out about the virus, how it’s decided who is eaten and who isn’t. That would’ve been way more interesting.

Laughing the entire time you’re talking about The Butcher and the Wren. Thank you for saying everything I thought!

First of all, the idea you had for a book-the ranch idea-sounds absolutely terrifying & I wanna read it yesterday. I didn't read any of these. I thought abt checking out Night of the Mannequins but it's really low on my priorities. I have a bunch of 90's horror I want to get into first. 😅 Also, I pronounce La Croix like you or as "La Croy." I'm certain I'm wrong though.

I just took a dystopian literature class because I’ve always loved the genre and I was so excited to read Tender is the Flesh because of that and because I saw so many good reviews of it, but 1. I thought alot of it was boring and we learned about unnecessary characters. 2. I wanted more world building, I want to know more about the transition. How the general public took it more. There wasn’t enough there. 3. I feel like the writing style was trying to make us like the main character but he was so unlikable and I’m okay with reading about a villain but the writing just wasn’t there for me. 🤦🏻♀️ I liked the concept of the book, the “twist” at the end was okay, but overall the book was so unsatisfying. I wanted to hear more about the conspiracies and whether they were true or not but we got nothing from it. 🙄 I had bought it awhile ago and seeing it in your thumbnail for this video is what made me finally sit down and read it to see if I would hate it too.

It was lacking so much that i thought would be there and i fully agree with all you said. I wanted so much more about the conspiracies and the transition. Why humans??? Why not vegan? People…. How did we skip so many chapters lol

I read the Butcher and the Wren and completed it. I too thought it was way too hyped up. I didn't hate it as much as you did but I thought the characters were very boring. I didn't catch the New Orleans discrepancies but I have never been there. If I would have thought about it I would have known those things wouldn't happen.
