On the 2nd of March after completing a Wedding Charter, While returning to the Depot.
“Vinnie the Volvo” our 1989 Volvo B10M started clattering and smoking away, So We pulled over immediately. Literally less then 30 seconds if that from the first sound to shut down, Oil pressure was good. Temperature was showing 95° Celsius bit warm but out of the red danger zone of 100 - 120°.
Left it overnight the next day it fired fired up no issues but was still banging and clattering away, Idling rough. So We organised a mechanic to come and have a look, Upon going to fire it up on the Tuesday the motor locked up solid.
We’re still waiting for it to be towed back to our depot a week later, Once back there We’ll pull the sump off and injectors out and go from there.
But at the moment it’s looking like it needs a $40,000+ out of frame engine rebuild, Which is made a bit more difficult due to it being a mid engined bus.
