I think Ramsetu was a type of Pontoon bridge built using large pumice rocks as floats. And yes it was constructed by Rama. Remember that myth is often the result of forgotten history.

Age of Bridge is 7000 years which matches the account of Ramayan. That means India is way older than 7000 years. But people say Sumerian is the oldest which is just 5000 years old. Just face the fact India is oldest country in the world.
