A State Representative has filed a bill he hopes will ultimately slam the brakes on most toll roads in the state for good.

Now all we have to get them to do is build some more DPS facilities. 1.1 million population increase in the last 10 years, and very few new DPS stations. Spending 5 or 6 hours at a DPS facility for something that puts you in front of one of their people for 7 minutes is absolutely pathetic.

Dallas North Tollway was supposed to be “paid off” by 2005. Still a tollway.

I may not necessarily be against the idea behind using toll roads for revenue generation purposes (such as as an alternative towards income taxes), though I believe only federal, state, or city governments should be given such a right (just like with taxation). Moreover, I'd rather prefer that these tolls wouldn't be too much more expensive than the cost that I'd need to spend in additional fuel to burn in order to find a route around these toll roads. I mean, mileage has been getting so much better for cars over the years that toll prices would need to remain low (such as a single dollar or less) in order to remain competitive. (That, or they could just surround entire cities with toll roads, so that there's no way past them.)

Wait a second... aren't taxpayers footing the bill on the interest on the outstanding 9.5bn? I guarantee that payment is more than continuing maintenance costs would be down the line.

I wonder when will Ukraine pay back 100 billion back
@trem8763 жыл бұрын
this is a dumb idea, because roads come with maintanence cost, and you basically have to replace the road every 30 years.

Express lanes that are used for bypassing congestion would make more since. So during rush hour people can pick their poison pay a toll or sit in traffic.

Wanna know what would be even cooler? A fucking train, that way your options are to consciously drive and probably get there a little faster or just ride the train and use the time how you want
