Could we Build a Moon Base?

Ever since our existence the moon has captured our interest.
Decades ago we ventured outside our atmosphere and landed on its surface. Since then we have seen rapid advancements in technology, and space exploration is more promising than ever before. With the international space station nearing decommission, it poses the question, could one of our endeavors be to build a moon base.

and one day it would collapse because of an earthquake of 22°magnitude lasting 2 days as some geologist found out happening on the moon more frequently than earthquakes of magnitude 6 are happening on earth (the magnitude scale was supposed to only reach 12 at maximum and Fukushima was a 10° magnitude if I remember correctly)

Rather depressing to think that once only the US could go to the moon, and now everyone is going except the US. But we'll have walled ourselves in along the border so I guess there's that. We'll have the most advanced wall graffiti.
