I would think that putting the cover on at the beginning would have still trapped some of the heat and steam.

It is a 200 watt appliance and it cooked for an hour and a half so it used about 300 watts total.

Thank you. That looks good! One of my fave meals is the macaroni and cheese recipe from the Dash booklet using rotini and canned white chicken chunks.
