I worked in auto parts stores back in the early 60's, the Gates mystery car token was never supposed to be silver as far as I know. The Gates Rubber Co, was a mfg of fan belts and hoses. They had one or more undercover cars that traveled around the country with the idea of seeing if repair people could diagnose problems and provide honest repairs. This is from memory, it was a while ago.

Why doesn't the secret service go after these sellers? Why can you sell counterfeit $200+ value US govt issue coins without any repercussions while passing a fake $10 private bank note (FRN) gets you years in prison?

My thought is that they are sold as replicas of the real coins. A lot of this stuff comes from places like Temu from China.

Know why ? Cuzz the fed doesnt give a rats ass.they want a cbdc and they ll downplay physical currency as " risky" due to counterfitting.

Ebay buyer protection saves them most of the time. I have got fake coins and every time the sellers accept the return. I once got a empty padded envelope and didn't even open it after i felt nothing was in it. Super sketchy. Seller declined the return saying he didn't send it like that (was a recycled envelope closed back up with black duct tape). I verified with my post office (small town) that it was delivered like that. Luckily ebay stepped in and approved the return. If not I would of filed charges with the sheriff and would of ended much worse for the seller.

I wish you were closer to me. I have been selling off a little bit of my gold and silver and it seems hard to find someone who will pay decently for it. On ebay you end up losing 20 percent by the time you pay their fees and shipping. I think you would probably give a fair shake.

On the obverse it looks like Liberty is spelled IIBDRIY on those 3

Just eyeballing some of the fakes. They do appear off. Great presentation! I do the testing with every silver coin that I buy. I even ask the LCS to put on his Sigma before I leave the store.

i got a 1880 cc fake morgan weighs correct. passed ping test 2/3.. correct size, but it is not real they are trying real hard to get them to pass as real. has tooling by the CC and by other lettering. close look the lettering is just not the same
