Great list of books. Be careful what you wish for--the flies on the wall at the Bronte parsonage probably died young from consumption.

"Looking Back at Our History of Tuberculosis Treatment After 125 Years of Care. As European immigrants arrived in America, the disease known as "consumption" was becoming widespread. The dramatic weight loss of patients with this disease made it seem as though they were being consumed."

I wasn't aware of Hemingways books that you shared. ha! The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy is very funny! I found out about it on booktube and a creator read it, so I listened to him reading it. And I kept rewinding it, because the reader kept laughing at the funny parts which made me laugh. Laughter is contagious, right? I was going to buddy read Bros. Karamazov this summer, but it fell through. I'm planning on reading it in 2025 even if she bails on me again. Great books, so many I haven't read. 📚📚

I'm with you, Nigel. I have tended to avoid books when I've seen the film but these days they are loosely based on them so I should go back and read them really. As for covers I've liked, it is probably the Sharpe series. Another enjoyable video, Nigel. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool Frankenstein cover, I agree! How fun to find more Hemingway to read. I’ve only read The Sun Also Rises and A Farewell to Arms, both of which I loved. Loved Jane Erye too. I’ve never read Jane Austen believe it or not! Sounds like a lot of great classics in this tag :)

Thanks for doing the tag, Nigel. I enjoyed your responses to these prompts. We even had quite a few responses in common! 😉 (Really, we've only ever disagreed powerfully on one novel!) Anyway, thank you, too, for the lovely things that you say about me here. Very kind of you, my friend.

Hi Stuart. It's a long time ago since I first read Jane Austen. I was not sure it would be for me but I loved them. I look forward to hearing your opinion. I will be surprised if you did not enjoy Pride and Prejudice and if you do you have Emma, Sense and Sensibility to look forward too. Got to be worth a spin! Of course depending on what you would be missing out reading instead. Happy reading.

It is pretty funny when politicians say it's "1984." Very dramatic:) Surprised there were two Hemingway books out there you didn't know about. Ford Maddox Ford's "The Good Soldier" Is a book I've re-read and each time the ending is powerful. Jane Austen writes convincing happy endings. Unfortunately, she's inspired generation of Harequinn Romance type of writers who write very unconvincing happy endings.

I think I have some Ford Maddox Ford but not that one. Will hunt it out. What I like about Jane Austen is her clever sentences. When she is making a joke she sets it up with a straight start and then there is a clever flip and lands often on the last word, bam! Happy reading.

I'm looking forward to Frankenstein this Oct and I also want to read Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I have that on my Kindle I believe from Project Gutenberg. I'm liking your list of books so far. Okay hold on. Are you in my TBR list? I also have treasure Island downloaded from Project Gutenberg that I want to read this year. 😂😂😂 Animal Farm....reqd it like 4 years ago... I enjoyed it and I feel like it might be worth a reread...and I don't reread things. 1984 read that same time I read Animal Farm. Great book. Great Tag sir!

Hey to My booktube Friend. Do you like reading plays, histories, and poems from the Elizabeth era? One of my favorite movies is Anonymous. It came out in 2011. It's on the topic of Shakespeare not writing his own play. I love the poetry of Edmund Spencer. Have you seen or heard of that anonymous movie?

Hi Todd, planning on reading a few Shakespeare soon. I do metal detecting and sometimes find coins and artefacts from this period. Today I found a coin from ancient Venice under my channel Detecting Daft (not posted yet). Hammered silver coin (A Soldino). Republic of Venice, coined under the Doge Leonardo Loredan, Venice mint, Mintmaster: Piero Cocco, Initials: PC, 1501-1502. Sometimes called a Galley Half penny. Is this a time period you are particularly interested in? Happy reading.

Oh we have Treasure Island on this summer's reading list - I cannot wait to begin it! I had Frankenstein in the plans to read for this autumn but you have made me think of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde now. The Count of Monte Christo is one of my favorites- but I haven't read it since my twenties. I'm due a reread! Jane Eyre is my absolute favorite book. Some great classics you have there!
