NOTE: The wheel is securely on the ground. You cannot loosen the nuts if the tire is not on the ground. I say that for my young nieces and nephews who don't know how to change a flat tire.

As a female who has changed MANY tires in my life, he isn’t changing any tire without a car jack. I see it but he isn’t using it. Therefore pointless

As an ASE Certified Auto Tech that still works on cars despite not doing it for a 9-5 any more, I have to correct you because you're wrong. He's only breaking the lug nuts loose that's it. It is PERFECTLY fine to "break the lug nuts loose" while the car is still on the ground. Although I would FIRST lift the car ever so slightly myself BUT STILL leave it on the ground. But that is just me and how I do it, again it's fine to do it the way he did it, as long as you don't take the nuts off too far before you put the car up on the jack - then after the car is up on the jack you can take them off the rest of the way. Just wanted to let you know. I mean maybe it'll help you someday to know this way to do it, plus I wouldn't want you doing any damage to your car doing it the wrong way - It is much better to let the ground keep the wheel from turning while you're breaking loose extremely tight lug nuts than it is to let your Parking Pawl (parking gear) do it. Although it is unlikely you will damage anything IT IS POSSIBLE to damage your transmission if you have it all the way up in the air when you try to loosen extremely tight lug nuts.
