1917. I wore my WW1 German Uniform to school. My friends and I dressed up as world war one soldiers. Me and Mav as Germans and Korbin as a US Doughboy. This reminds me of the new movie 1917 by Sam Mendes. It was super embarrassing bc I was a WWI GERMAN at HIGH SCHOOL! This is also celebrating the 101 year anniversary of the end of the first world war! Being uploaded on 11/11/2019! This is like a Senior Prank or School Dare! My great grandfather was a WW1 german soldier. Now I know what his uniform looked like. A bit of his story, when the war ended he was stuck in Russia. He had to hide from everybody because people where still killing enemy soldiers. He made the two week trek back home with no food and nearly starved to death. I wish I could have asked my great grandmother more about it on her 100th birthday, but I was only 10 and wasn't interested in history much.

So, I'm an aussie, and last year, one of my friends (who's persian, but looks like your generic middle eastern guy) just rocked up for muck up week (basically a week of Year 12s causing chaos and wearing costumes and shit at the last week of term 3) in a full, perfectly pristine WW1 ottoman uniform. He got so many weird looks at first, but then everyone laughed it off and realised he was just having fun. Our history teacher loved it, and went off topic to delve into ottoman early 20th century history pre-gallipoli

Sweat Cookienese it’s not a russian uniform, it’s a Soviet Uniform. Russia was 1 of 15 Republics. The Red army was made up of men from all over Eastern Europe and Asia.

What, you think everyone who was a nationalist was a Nazi, or even *more* stupid and provably wrong, that everyone who fought on the German side during the World Wars was (even taking THE most generous interpretation, bare in mind that during WW2 the SS had foreign legions, even from India, who, yes, actually saw combat, and yes, were volunteers)? Furthermore, the Nazi party didn't even exist until after Germany got royally screwed by England and France in a war their side didn't even instigate, so much so that they'd have to wheelbarrow money to and fro. People get desperate and hang on to any vague hope they can for a way out, when it seems the entire world has abandoned them. World War Two as we know it and the rise of the National Socialist Party would outright not have happened if it weren't for Versailles. *A* second World War might have, and almost certainly would have, but I severely doubt it would've been anywhere close to how it happened in the real world. Furthermore, do *you* have any idea how insensitive it is to condemn anyone who fought and/or in a war where the party of your supposed grievance literally did not exist during (and again, may I remind you, were not even the AGGRESSORS during WWI) as not worthy of respect, because someone later on used them as a political piece to gain power? I am from Germany and the sad thing is if someone in germany were to wear that on Halloween in school other would call you a Nazi and that’s guaranteed even if they knew about ww1 but sadly ppl still have some unconscious guilt so in germany ppl will start extremely fast to judge you but I think that changes at the moment bc more and more ppl (like me) are annoyed by that prejudgmental society in germany
