David and Melanie Colclough struggled conceiving children of their own before they opened their hearts to adopt five young siblings. They share their touching story with Hoda Kotb, who tapped MLB player Eric Sogard and his wife to reveal to David and Melanie that they’ve been given a grant to help adopt their kids’ sixth sibling. Later, the Colcloughs join TODAY live to give an update on their family - and receive a Christmas Day surprise.

Gosh! I am in tears listening and processing what this couple have been able to cope with during the "understated sadness" they experienced yet they took the years and lesson to grow. I am so amazed. I am going through a situation that is about rescuing as well. Working to keep the faith that all the hardships will be worth it in the end. What I was so moved by with this couple is that they talked realistically about the heartache of loss and hoping and not being in control of a system but kept working, and praying, towards their goal. This is giving me more support from the strength of their journey which is showered by love. Thank you so much for being the people that you are 💚 💛 🌈 🇨🇦 😷

I lost my oldest son and my twin boys in similar ways in preterm labor- the unspeakable grief with that...but now we want to adopt waiting children from foster care... I am so so SO excited to be starting this process.

They found to love ❤️ another child and in their love adopted 6 children a set of girl twins 👯‍♀️ and 4boys they seem like the children belong to them you feel the love 💕 from their new parents and the love the parents have for them ,and let’s face it that’s a huge huge blessing 6 children from the same family oh god “ is good (saving 6 children from the same if that’s not god” and these wonderful couple the dad is just beaming with love for those children and mom is beaming with love after her lost if their 8 month baby died nothing more horrible that can happen to a pregnant 🤰🏻 mom to be so so sad 😞 but. Now she has 6 children to love and they saved 6. Children’s lives now a family of 8 may god bless and keep them save and happy ,already done that ,may more blessings pour out to them that 8 seater van a great start they are so deserving wonderful happy story we need more of them.

I paused the video for a moment type this response to the statement that the mother said was asked of her. I was not able to have children of my own through child birth due to medical issues. However, I work in education and as was told to me I have hundreds of children. You see I love each and every child that I have worked with in my 20 years of education. These Children are my children. Yes, I love them as if I gave birth to them. I would lay down my life for them. Yes, I would jump in front of a bullet to protect them.

How do you love a child that is not yours... Some people are sick.. Or void of a soul. You love children because they are the essence of what love is. It's the purest type of love in my opinion. How could you not love and nurture a child who needs you.. Or has no one else. To me it's instinct of proper soulful humans.

Very good to keep them together. in the Uk sadly we sometimes have a mother who cannot cope and has baby aftr baby in the hope eventually she will be allowed to keep one of them and yet baby after baby is removed at birth for its safety. Very difficult issues. This 6 could grow bigger here if the same thing is happening.
