Black Sabbath started out as a heavy blues / jazz band who wrote "scary" music. Their debut album is very bluesy. In fact, if you like blues you should totally check out the track "Warning" from that first album. Their second album had the trippy "Planet Caravan" and Bill Ward's acoustic drum jam "Rat Salad". Master of Reality had several chill acoustic interludes. All of their 1970s albums had really pretty songs mixed in with the heaviness.

I love how at 05:30 at the "Woman-child of love's creation..." Tasha starts swaying as if acting out the part, not even knowing the lyrics, just feelin' it. That's so spontaneously perfect. And she's not wrong about feeling the blues in their sound as they started as a 12 bar blues band called Earth.

Black Sabbath can take two, seemingly different melodies, and mesh them into one complete song. They do it so well with so many of there songs. You can't get the full feel for the song just by listening to the first minute of a Black Sabbath song; you need to listen to the entire song and then make a judgement. Really enjoyed your video! Thumbs Up! I'm a big fan of Black Sabbath and Ozzy!

Tony Iommi (lead guitar) is the genius who wrote all of their music, and who invented metal, doom and thrash. He teamed up with bass player Geezer Butler, who he had great chemistry with, and who wrote the lyrics. I suggest Into the Void, Children of the Grave, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Air Dance (for some actual metal jazz).

Tasha is correct about the Bluesy! Black Sabbath has very deep roots in blues and Iommi is a master of pentatonic scales. So even if Sabbath is the beginning of metal so to say, it doesn't mean that they aren't bluesy. Here are some Black Sabbath recommendations: A National Acrobat, Fairies Wear Boots, Snowblind, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Sabra Cadabra, Hand of Doom, The Writ, Junior's Eyes, Megalomania, Into the Void, Lord of This World, and Sweet Leaf.

F it, just fire up the b side of the debut album and roll with Evil woman(Crow cover) Sleeping village/Warning(Warning was a ansley dunbar song from '67. awesome in it's own right). Evil woman isn't on the north american album, it was replaced by wicked world. In all honesty, the sabbath songs you should check out are all of them.

Yes Tasha, they do have a lot of blues influence in their music. Like a lot of English bands/artists, they LOVED blues music because at one point, it was easier to get American blues records than American rock n roll records. Plus American blues artists toured England a lot back in the 50's & 60's but rock n roll artists not so much. Great reaction. 🤘Rock On!🤘

It's songs like this and many other Sabbath songs why they are considered the godfathers of heavy metal. They took blues and jazz added Tony Iommi's doomy guitar sound and style added in Ozzy's very unique singing and came up with something so different for its era. I first heard Sabbath in 1970 and they are still my favorite band. Their first 6 albums are flawless.

Drum fill wise, one of the toughest songs to play. Bill Ward is my favorite no matter who is more technical. Props for my man who was clearly into this. If you could only know what it felt like to experience this at 14 - no matter the year or decade, just to hear this when you are young enough to have it branded into your DNA. I feel very lucky for that. This was Ozzy's prime for vocal range, power and clearness. One of the best guitars sounds ever - and Geezer is Geezer. He never needed to improve because he was always so good, but the other 3 kept rising and rising right up to the (1978) end, as far as I'm concerned.
