SOCIAL CRITICISM IN THE FACE OF SOCIETY OMG!!!!

I think that the message of the story line is quite clear: "Be yourself, and don't be misled into endlessly chasing the idealized image of others." I think that "Allergy" starts the story line by showing Soyeon's unhappily comparing her life with the glamorized life of those she idolizes, and going so far as to undergo plastic surgery to try to alleviate her insecurity. The other girls also show moments of their own insecurity and being envious of others. I think that the rest of the story line will show Soyeon achieving her goal of becoming an "it girl", but that she will discover that it is an empty, superficial life that still leaves her unfulfilled. She will then have an epiphany that being her true self is the only real way to meaningful self-acceptance and happiness, and forsake her new, phony facade to return to the old "nerdy" (but now happy and secure) self. I think that you can see this foreshadowed at the end of the MV where you see a happy Soyeon dancing around and sending a paper airplane message to herself (I suspect telling herself to love herself as she is, as that is the best version of herself). Let's see if my prediction comes true. ; )

A dark, heartbreaking song with social commentary packaged in a upbeat pop rock song. Really hits the spot for me. What a beautiful heart and brain our Soyeon has. 😭

Jeon Soyeon has the most interesting choices in the way she writes her music and lyrics that has a beautiful melodies and chorus parts of the song with really good transitions and mixing

I think you should have waited for the subtitles. At least for me the "vibe" of the song changed completely. The lyrics are really sad imo... Absolutely brilliant song (as always from ()I-dle)

"They're linked?!" --- Yup. Idle didn't do their usual teaser scheduler pattern, and instead shot more videos. This is probably the most storyline driven title track we'll have. But agreed! Should be interesting to see what statement they make in Queencard. It's very well-documented that Soyeon struggled during Produce 101 days, because haters criticized her and said she wasn't pretty enough to be an idol. They are most definitely going to push back on the pressure of always having to be pretty, well put together, and popular.

This was so so relatable like just trying to be like others even though you might even look out together to someone else. Like miyeon was dressed up and so put together but she wanted the boyfriend of minnie. Quite relatable, I think the note Soyeon sent to herself is maybe to remind her of who she is or to stop her or something. I think it’ll continue in the tittle track and other songs as well

Lyrics are like this: why ain’t I pretty like other girls? I want to be pretty and be loved (by boys). So in the end of MV, Soyeon chose to do plastic surgery. I’m really surprised that a girl Idol group ‘dare’ brought up this topic. Plastic surgery is really a common thing among girl idols but girl idols are often criticized/cyber-bullied by this, being called ‘monsters’. And sadly, lots of Korean girls do plastic surgery because of insecurities and beauty standards. And of course there are many Korean women who think datings are not worth for plastic surgeries, so they just started to stop dating men at all since a few years ago.

This clip is really interesting, because its not just about Soyeon. As far as it goes: Soyeon wants to be like the other girls - as she follows Miyeon and Minnie, but also goes after Yuqi and Shuhua for "advice" and style. Minnie "has it all" but is actually really lonely. Miyeon has followers and "friends" in Yuqi and Shuhua, but she doesn't have the boy and thinks it makes her less than Minnie. As a duo, Shuhua and Yuqi seem fine to have each other, and they are obviously seen as pretty, but when the other girls show up at the party they feel insecure. Shuhua tries to blend with them and become their "leader" or "Queen Bee" - as she is in the middle of the bathroom shot - while Yuqi seems betrayed but also jealous and her friend may leave for status.

So sorry I'm so late I've been very busy lately (I'm getting ready to graduate and man it's chaos) AND I SAW Y'ALL GOT INTO AESPA DANG I'M SO LATE TO THE PARTY- I'm definitely checking it out soon also y'all look AMAZING, dude this whole comeback had my jaw dropped it's so catchy but when you read the lyrics you are like "Wow, this hits home-" or "This is actually really sad..." this is actually a masterpiece (also I wish I was that man, he is so lucky) it is amazing just everything though I think I like Queencard a little bit better! Dude Miyeon in this is just GORGEOUS- she's been killing it lately (She already has been but wow) and her Vocals are absolutely insane she definitely deserves more recognition, Minnie like WOW she has been killing me lately like full blown choke hold not only with her Vocals but her visuals and just again everything (this is why I can't pick a bias), Soyeon is legit one of the best Rappers in the industry and personally one of my favorites (along with Moonbyul and Dami, etc)- not to mention her visuals are INSANE (not only in here but overall), Yuqi JUST WOW she's been trying to kill me and that's not me being over dramatic (She is very cute but when she wants to she can be very sexy) and again her vocals are AMAZING, and Shuhua...
