@@pdxtom Yes, because part of the "duties" demanded of a typical Korean wife are the provison of sex. Starting from Shuhua's rap and through Miyeon's, that is what is hinted at. The bulk of the song is pure innuendo.

Seemed like everyone on the Discord server this morning was hating on this track, so I was expecting to be "meh" at best. But "Wife" is SO iconic and fun, so reminiscent of the "Jelly" and other early Soyeon songs - it's addictive AF and so much fun! (G)I-DLE NEVER disappoint me, and I can't wait for the album!!

Yeah. These damned trolls just have no idea what FUN is. I noticed that when ITZY released Sneakers. Everybody expects only to see the badass girl-power content and they forget that Humans (INCLUDING Idols, Soloists, Actors, Athletes, etc) have more than one emotional state. The girls are ALLOWED to have FUN. They are ALLOWED to be SARCASTIC. It's ART, delivered by World-Class Artists. I really don't understand how people don't get it, unless they are really truly PURPOSELY missing the point. If that is case, they are merely more damned Internet trolls whose opinions should be ignored; they deserve no attention at all because they refuse to be Human, so they deserve no Human Rights.

It's a kind of parody or satire of the traditional view of women and wives in society. And yes, maybe that's why the lyrics seem to have a double meaning, as the girls somehow mock those desires of men."

You don't even know the process of how Soyeon writes her lyrics, so you don't know if she just Google Translates her rap verses. "It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out" Apparently it does for you, because you think you know the reason, but you don't

I feel like (G)Idle just swings for the fences and pushes boundaries like crazy at this point. Hard to believe this is the same group that did Lion. I watched Nxde, then Queencard, and now Wife worrying if the general population will go for it. So far they’ve kept most people on board so hopefully that continues. Even watching the lyrics, this seems so foreign to me like it’s a whole new subgenre. I really enjoyed the aesthetics of the video so far but it’s so unserious. I’m going to have to hear the song by itself a few more times to get over the shock of today and figure out how much I’ll re-listen long term.

They can't yet, they have a contract that expires next year. The only reason they haven't left is because they can't. That's why you may see a lot of Neverlands sad for next year because we know for sure that they're leaving the company when their contract expires

I swear "Breaking the internet" and challenging the norms is why i fell in love with Idle. They have alot of messages in this song. Have you noticed they got criticism for "vulgar" dances? But it's okay for Male Groups? See, the double standard and those people/haters got caught because go male groups move like this alot. These were legit hip hop moves which in itself is meant to be vulgar, not sexy. I don't know any female group in recent memory that had this type of hip hop style choreo, it's usually shaky shaky and body rolls....man, so many things just from one 2 minute song, wow.

That really was a lot of fun! Quirky is a great word for it. I think the English translation of the lyrics are going to put Western people off. There are some Koreans who already don't like it because they know what is being said...I REALLY HOPE I am wrong about what is happening but if I heard it right, it's really messed up. It's PERFECT for what (G)I-DLE stands for and takes after what Dreamcatcher did wit OOTD. It's sarcastic AF! I hope more people come to realize that! :D
