THE HISTORY OF "COURAGE": This version is with Britani Bateman (amazing vocalist) she learned this song overnight from a CD we gave her and recorded it the next morning. This song was written for and inspired by Lupe Funaki Piena (because she is what she sings), but when it was written Lupe was serving a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Guam so I chose Bertha Samoa to sing the solo (another amazing individual who has touched my life for good).

I know this is waaaaayyyy late, but that is so crazy! I stayed at her parent's home while serving in Sacramento. I've always loved this song & never knew this version in particular was sung by her. Wow.

Such a beautiful song Jolene. I am putting together a musical fireside for my daughter's missionary farewell. Since I have decided to do so, I have been strongly guided to input certain narratives and certain songs. This is one of the songs I really felt drawn to use. I wanted to make sure every song sung had the writers name underneath the title. In doing so, I have discovered that many of my choices just so happen to be written by friends of mine. I am so humbled to know what a beautiful talent the Lord has blessed you with. Thank you for your testimony you share through the songs you have written. The first person to sing Courage was Bertha Samoa. The first to record Courage is Lupe Funaki Piena (since this song was written and inspired by her. The second recording is Britani Bateman=)

this song is so beautiful, I remember Bertha Samoa, she had a voice like a angel..anyways she is first cousin, with my brother in law Tusi Aiono, and also it was so sad, when Bertha got so sick, I felt so sorry for her, because she passed away at such a young age and she also was famous for being the only polynesian lady in the mormon tabernacle choir and working the LDS church history building in salt lake city, utah...we miss you alot Bertha Samoa., snd she had a beautiful voice...

Many LDS people have hurt me in life. But you cannot deny they have something prophetic in their world once you seem to enter into it. The videos and the music is very touching and soothing. This song is a perfect example. May God bless all who hear..

I'm extremely picky with soloists when it comes to this song. It doesn't matter to me if you have an incredible voice. Courage requires the soloist to have an incredible soul=)

this song is so beautiful, and gives me the courage to do what is right, and makes me think of my faith in our church of jesus christ of lattter-day saints...(mormons) and it helps me to be strong, especially in this hard life..actually, it really touches my heart and makes me want to cry...:)

aloha needed to make a comment about this beautiful touching and inspiring song. The courage that this song talks about is so true. As I was doing some work for God he brought this song to my heart, he knew that I needed something sweet and gentle and would give me Courage, this song was the inspiration to continue especially when the world walks out on you..love it aloha
