Say that to a Swede and watch them look at you as if you have a 3rd eye growing out of your forehead. For context, it is super easy to find a hookup there as people don't have the same hangups around sex as Americans do. In fact, they generally feel that they need to sleep with you before they even know if they really like you.

Years ago, I was at a restaurant on a date with a 10. We ordered drinks first, before ordering food. As we talked and looked over the menu, she started telling me how she is accustomed to being catered to and spoiled. I nodded and said curiously, "Really?" Now I'm not a Tyson Beckford look a like, BUT have never had any issues with women finding me attractive and have been approached by more than my fare share in my life, asked out and the date paid for by...... the woman. As she continued to tell me about her 'expectations,' the server came back asking if we were ready to order our meal. I looked at her, smiled and then said, "check please."

Social media and “reality shows” have really brainwashed so many people. What’s sad is when the dude in the TikTok said “in todays age…” that statement hit different! Seems like a lot of people are out of touch with reality. It’s fine to have high standards IF AND ONLY IF you meet those standards yourself.
@jacobtani9785
@jacobtani9785 2 жыл бұрын
What’s sad is that people are followers nowadays always trying to copy what someone else does and that is because of social media. Materialism is at an all time high right now because basically everyone is living in their own material world. Just like Madonna sang it sadly it came true. And when people tell me my expectations are high, oh that drives me insane cause when they tell me theirs, I want to smack some sense and reality back into them. These are my 7 expectations for a woman of my preference: 1. Be mature 2. Non smoker/vaper (literally almost the same side effects) don’t understand for anybody how they can say that they are on the path to recovery by switching over to vaping or just doing it to fit in, there is literally no difference overall 3. Doesn’t do drugs or smoke weed (I hate the smell of weed) 4. Isn’t a social media addict (constantly on it or basically is their life 24/7) 5. Not partying or getting drunk on a daily basis 6. An independent person (can live comfortably by themselves already financially, mentally, and emotionally) 7. Has a sense of humor and can also take sarcasm as well. I honestly don’t see how this is unrealistic compared to others that have told me theirs. Its unrealistic though sadly as well because it’s hard to find a woman that fits my preferences in todays society cause more than half are actually the opposite of at least one of them. But at least mine aren’t absurd expectations like most others that other men and women have.

I'm very progressive too and I always viewed hookup culture as being harmful to everyone, especially women. And yes I was accused of slut shaming too. It's just that I've seen women get used over and over and their self esteem plummets because of it but they try to blame it on just not finding that right guy. And studies show that hookups often times give women anxiety afterwards but not so much for men. There's nothing wrong with sex. A women never has to be "pure" or shamed for having sex. But this extreme culture of hooking up just because you can is bad for women's mental health overall.

I got out of a relationship back in January. Fast forward to March and I hook up with this girl. It felt like she manipulated me into hooking up because I told her I didn’t feel emotionally ready yet. Then she proceeds to ghost me and I felt completely empty/used. This is coming from a young man (22). This is the first and last time I participate in hookup culture. I’d rather keep it in a relationship since I’m more traditional.

That last clip (20:51) hit home. I met a girl who embodied those good qualities she was looking for, and I showed those same good qualities, yet she did not want a relationship. The circumstances were that she was under stress and was driven to succeed in her career, but like that clip (13:11) said, she was not ready to show or was not showing all of her natural feminine self. The disparity in dating and relationships this day and age is sometimes depressing.

“Hook-up culture benefits men far more than it benefits women.” This is patently ludicrous. 8 out of 10 guys have 0 options. They get 0 likes on dating apps and are most likely drowning in some level of despair & hopelessness. It’s a small number of men getting all of the action while the rest are effectively starved of intimacy and closeness. Women, at the absolute least, can still play the field and have a “great time” in their youth. They’ll complain later regardless. Gentlemen, this is why so many influencers encourage young men to never take advice from women (I don’t entirely agree). You’ll end up wildly gaslit.

In the beginning stages (my thoughts) it's best not over text. You become boring and like every other guy. The way to do this in a healthy way is to be productive throughout the week, the more you get to know her through the weeks, the more you can pop up to check in her but remember to set the date as phones are for setting dates.

@@timheidel5849 - I’d go one step further and say it’s impossible for a man to respect a promiscuous women. Men are expected to give a lot in modern relationships! The least a women can do is only share her body with one guy. It’s also terrible for women because when women have sex they release oxytocin which builds an emotional connection with the girl to the man. When women have casual sex it affects their ability to pair bond with a future guy. Even if a girl has casual sex from 18-28 and then wants a guy to marry her and have kids she won’t be able to pair bond with that man. Resulting in a break up, divorce, broken home. Just to also add 82% of divorces are initiated by women. I don’t think it’s by accident that the media is pushing this onto women. Women tend to be the less assertive sex and tend to go with the flow much more than men. Women very rarely go against society and conventional ways of thinking and doing. That’s why governments target women, what does women being promiscuous actually cause? The breakdown of the traditional, strong family unit! When families are broken women become emotionally destroyed and men become weak and lack purpose. This mean we are easily manipulated by the powers from above. This of course is just my theory but I’m closing to being right than most are.

The biggest aspect about having high standards when wanting a relationship is, an accurate and honest reflection of: Why the hell would He pick YOU? instead of the hundreds of others that want that guy. And girls; most of you don't have an accurate reflection of what it is those men want. And that is IF he even wants a relationship. Chads will sleep with you, but you play this game too much it makes most women that sleep around extremely unhappy in a marriage they do end up in, as they keep comparing their future husband to an amalgam of the Chads they slept with for a night or a week in their past.

In regards to hooking up, that can go both ways in my opinion in regards to a woman getting pregnant since she could track the dude down for child support, both men and women can get STD's and hooking up can most likely ruin possible pair bonding of both parties for a future long-term relationship

Sorry but the woman talking about how hookup culture is bad for women kind of shot herself in the foot the moment she admitted to being a feminist. Don't get me wrong, she is right about the damage that comes from hookup culture and it damages men as well. However, it has nothing to do with patriarchy because in the end the woman made the choice to sleep around as well. There is no law that says a woman must sleep around. It had nothing to do with "patriarchy" but with 2 people and the choices they made to get where they are. Also, the feminist movement is so radical now that anyone putting that label on themselves lessens their own credibility, even when they are right and otherwise have a sound argument. The reason for that loss of credibility is that the moment you label yourself a feminist people think of the crazies who use that title and associate you with it as well. Let your argument stand on its own merit instead of relying on trigger words like "feminist" or "patriarchy". The moment I hear a woman say she is a feminist, I will kick her to the curb because, as a man who can be accused of anything and be guilty until proven innocent (in part due to MeToo), I cannot take the risk of finding out if she is a crazy feminist or just one who truly believes in equality. No sane man will roll that dice.

The unrealistic standards are totally crazy for sure. I think that's part of why I avoid dating apps, etc, because it's just so superficial seeming and based on who can craft the most compelling profile and pics. The thing about only 2% of men between 20 and 40 being over 6 foot and making 6 figures is hilarious too. Some of my female friends lament about how they can't find guys sometimes and a few of them have exactly those sorts of standards and MORE! Over 6 foot, 6 figure salary, in great shape, etc. For every new "standard" they set for their imaginary future partners, they just further reduce the already miniscule chances of finding anyone that can meet those standards. I mean trust me, I'd love to find a woman who is a smoking hot 10 outta 10, but I'm certainly not expecting it or even trying to look for it. I'm trying to find someone that I find attractive who shares the same values and overall lifelong ambitions and goals. And even that is hard! I feel bad for people stuck in the trap of unrealistically high standards.

I Love You!!!! @courtneyryan I know someone who did the whole “hook up culture” thing when she was young. Guess where she is now. In her 40s, single, and in menopause. #stophookupculture It’s incredibly sad but hey she recently got a puppy. There’s an inherent feeling we have where we want to be responsible for someone else. We want to take care of others and care for others. Sometimes though we don’t see ourselves as an other even though we are. Even though you are one body we embody “the other”. Meaning another person. There’s the adult us, the child, the elder, the fool, the sage, and on and on. Take care, love, and respect yourselves people!!!!

To be more specific hookup culture only benefits the very top 10% of men and severely hurts everyone else. Young men being left out will feel the negative effects more immediately while the woman will realize the harm it's done them once they start getting more self aware.

They don't hate you, but there is a phrase that says you can do anything you want to a woman other than bore them and they definitely do need some sort of emotional tension (tension that isn't toxic or abusive even though a lot of them end up with toxic and abusive men). Become captivating, or practice being such. Women don't hate you bro

Hookup culture isn't going to make a man less likely to commit. A guy who wants to have sex with lots of women will do so even if he is married. This isn't a new thing. Men who like to have lots of sex with other women go to brothels where it's legal.

When I told my then boyfriend I had been celibate for 6-7 years prior to meeting him, you can imagine his reaction. He asked me how I had managed that, and then later on when our relationship became physical, he said "I still don't get how you managed to stay celibate for so long now that I see how se**al and insatiable you are". The thing about me is that I consider my se**ality sacred. It's something I don't just give out left and right. I need to feel there's something there. I need to feel that we're connecting on many levels other than a physical one, because s*x is two people exchanging energies, and I need to feel that my partner is adding, not taking.

Basically to Men, all of this is exhausting. Women have this extremely long list of qualifications to go by before you can seriously date them. Men dont have a long list for women. Relationships should be simple...thats how Men look at it. Not this "Dont Do This Dont Do that Mentality that Women have to just Date Them. The "Princess Mentality" is embedded in the Majority of Them. And Men are "Tired" Geez. Lol

I would love to see a well made comprehensive video about marriage as a whole. I have seen parents getting divorced time and seen what it does for a mn and it left a mark on me as well. I think it is possible to have a commited relationship without the actual ”marriage” label on it. Because like you said in this video at 5:28, it is quite expensive to get divorced especially for the men out there and it has a lifelasting effect on both parties and especially on the children involved.

The powerbase of our culture wants all adults to be in an aspirational mode, which prompts consuming. Hence, female models are unreasonably thin and unattainable, and men are celebrated when they earn big money and are tall and ripped. If you are not in those categories, you are prodded through marketing to either become that way or get out of the way and do not complain about it. I'm glad those anxious years of striving are behind me. Even so, it is painful to watch my middle class young friends suffer in this milieu. My rich young friends do not even notice that less fortunate people have such issues.
