One of the biggest issues that social media has normalized is filming children to share publically. Too many "family" influencers build their whole brand off the backs of their young children who can't even consent to being exposed to millions of strangers online. And it becomes an even bigger issues when pedos get a hold of the videos. We always hear about child celebrities coming forward to talk about trauma or abuse they faced behind the scenes. I have a feeling were going to start seeing a lot of child influencers coming forward with similar stories in the future.

What really pisses me off about the woman with 3 kids who is now homeless, is the fact that she didn’t put her kids first. If she was young-or even if she wasn’t, as long as she didn’t have any kids then I’d say-“go for it, live your life” but the fact that she is a grown ass woman with THREE YOUNG KIDS, and she threw a stable home and life away for an change at being an influencer pisses me off. Your children need to be your top priority, especially when they’re young. Your top priorities need to be your children having a stable home, or at least a stable life and the fact that she gave that up for social media is just…I can’t even explain it.

I didn't mind being alone because i couldn't relate to anyone and just played on my Nintendo ds during breaks. I'm 23 now and still wonder how they expect me to switch from being an elementary school kid to drinking energy drinks, talk about sex like it's a hobby and wear skimpy clothing all in the same year

Realistically she's not Bill Gates who can help my situation 😭. I learnt that no matter what you are going through, big or small, all people can say is "sorry". And they can't help your situation. (As my Nigerian my would say - 'nothing wey dem fit talk pass sorry') Not only that, I felt exposed. Like you know my life and just so transparent. I know I shouldn't say this but I felt vulnerable. And I don't like feeling this way except it's towards God Almighty. I write down things that are bothering me in a journal. But I have a habit of not being consistent with it and bottling things up 😭

When it comes to overconsumption.. im so glad i found minimalism and the marie condo method at 16. Its been 7 years and im STILL working towards it! I had too many beauty products, threw away expired products, and made sure i used everything else until it was empty. Now i prioritize quality. I chose one expensive perfume for my bday, forcing me to make sure i ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. Same with clothes. I only keep 2 weeks worth of clothes including lazy day and dress up, being intentional with it makes a huge difference. When they wear down i buy new clothes but if you only buy quality it lasts longer, giving you more time to save for what you love. It also helps bc i hate cleaning so only having exactly what i need and love. alsooo less time cleaning means i have more time for living!

To add on to this, a lot of those people who move to LA with damn near nothing, no actual support system or reliable career end up either homeless, resorting to sex work for money or a temporary place to stay and then end up on drugs to cope with their new reality. The key thing to not oversharing is just a lot of self-reflection. I am an over-thinker and introverted by nature, so my first course of action when something happens is to think about it. I don't go all therapist mode on myself or anything, I just reflect and keep reflecting until I can reach a conclusion that doesn't make me want to explode on someone. On the few occasions where I told people what was on my mind, it was genuinely because I felt like I was destroying myself by bottling it up. It's important to find a balance: don't tell everyone your business, but don't bottle up everything and kill yourself in the process.

COURTNEY!!! I’ve been watching you since the SHEIN haul you made and binge watched your videos after! Let me just say, being a reezy is rewarding y’all like we have amazing content. You don’t understand how much this video opened my eyes and made me say “wow”. I truly do need to go touch some grass because being on social media too much makes you feel outside of yourself, it makes you out of touch with reality, only draws you away from yourself, and what you need to get done. This inspired me to take a leap of faith and do the goals I’ve promised myself to do. No more comparing to social media, it’s time to step up and take action in our own lives ❤ THANK YOU COURTNEY🦋💕

I have a neurological condition called Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome, and it causes really severe vomiting episodes and for some unknown reason, getting into a hot bath will stop the vomiting while im in hot water. So during my episodes, the only way i can sleep is to get in the bath. So i seriously considered buying that bath pillow, but then i forgot about it and never thought of it again until this video😂 i have a rule for myself that i NEVER buy things without thinking about it for atleast a week. And usually ill forget by the end of the week😂 it saves me a lot of money. I also dont return things, and i use up everything i buy.

What keeps me from oversharing is respecting my friends' capacity to be there for me. Everyone is so busy with their own lives and all the big and small things that happen throughout the day that it's not fair for me to dump all of my stuff on them too. There's a fine line between going to my friends when I need their help/advice/a shoulder to cry on versus exhausting them with the small, insignificant details of my life.

The advice about writing things down instead of saying it to people is solid! It helps you distinguish between whether you just impulsively want to say the thing or if you actually want/need that person to know about it. I use my notes app for this all the time! Especially if I’m tempted to argue with people on the internet 😅 I rarely end up saying anything that was written in my notes app… and if I do, I say it a lot more gracefully.

i agree with what you said about celebs and cancel culture. i think a lot of the time ppl idolize celebs, and bc they see them as superior they think they do no wrong. bc of this mindset people become surprised when people make mistakes. and while we should educate these people and hold them accountable rather than attacking them, i feel like in certain instances it’s perfectly justified to do so. like if someone gets exposed as a groomer or something im going off on their ass honestly 😭 yes everyone is human, but yes also people’s unethicals need to be called out, and they should stop being supported

So about the over sharing, I have this thing I once saw on tik tok, it basically says “people don’t care how you feel, they care about what made you feel this way” I guess its like that idk, it means that people are more curious about the reasons, the gossip maybe or the drama that’s going on in your life, when I feel like over sharing I immediately think of that! Hope it helps (I really don’t like curious people, thats why it helped me so much)

you’re SO right about journaling. I’ve always kept my serious business to myself, but I’ve definitely fallen into the trap of being a little too comfortable in public online spaces a few times. I’ve recently taken to my old high school journal and writing down thoughts that I have to get out, but are too personal for those spaces. It really helps Also worth mentioning that the US govt. is rushing to ban tiktok bc users are overwhelmingly pro-Palestine. If they succeed, they could potentially ban any platform if they deem it the product of a “foreign adversary.” I don’t even have tiktok and it’s maddening to see

commenting on the oversharing thing- I honestly think therapy will help a lot with not oversharing a lot once it's no longer a habit. I used to over share and it was a semi trauma response. Then I experienced too much hurt from being so vulnerable that I became really private. I later learned after just healing, being saved, and flipping my experiences to help others that I share resolved things in my life. I only share what I need help with or only vent to my husband if it's something I need off my chest now. Journaling and prayer helps out a lot. Just letting it out is key. You have so much wisdom girl! I love it!

The key to not overshare is getting to be mysterious and the excitment when you can tell someone and their surprised. So while others overshare you keep the IMPORTANT things to yourself until it's right to share or if you even want to share. Also you hear others people's drama while not having to share an ounce yourself. Put 'The Art of Self-Control' when you go somewhere new!!

Literally growing up I always knew what I needed vs what I didn’t. Ofc as a kid I want toys but I would purposely not get my parents to spend money. They’ll say “Do you need anything?” And til this day I say no even tho there’s things I may WANT. Now if I want something I’ll just wait a week or so (during that time I might look at vids about it or research) and ask myself if I really need/want it for myself rn.. so I don’t impulse buy

Towards the end when you mentioned how when you’re busy living life you feel better, I can so relate I don’t let myself scroll for hours and I make sure to focus on creating a life I love. I have my girlfriends, my career, my business I’m building, my self care, dance classes.. when I’m focused on myself I don’t have any room in my brain to compare my life to other people and I feel so much more secure When I slack on those things and fall into the habit of mindless scrolling that’s when I experience feeling uneasy and anxious. And it’s how I can tell if I’ve been neglecting myself and need to go touch some grass 😂

I have a problem with over sharing too it’s so bad 😭 I bottle things up and never talk about anything personal for awhile and then suddenly it all comes spilling out haha especially if someone asks me a question related to something I’m having a problem with, it’s like I can’t help but be honest and tell them every detail and then I regret it 😭 On one hand it can be nice to open up to friends but on the other hand when you’re not that close friends with someone and then you tell them all this bad stuff going on in your life you feel like they’re now looking at you differently. Sometimes I feel really judged or pitied because if I share all these things going wrong in my life then the friend just assumes my entire life is sad and horrible and I just don’t have my shit together. And then you can kind of see that judgment influencing all your future interactions with that person.
