The plaintiff is suing her stepcousin, and she says the defendant has hated her ever since her sister slept with the defendant’s then-boyfriend. The plaintiff says the defendant stabbed her in the neck and shoulder during an argument. The defendant was convicted of the crime. She’s suing for pain and suffering. The defendant argues she did not get a fair trial. She says the plaintiff threatened her with a broken glass bottle, and the bottle is what cut her. She’s countersuing for attorney fees and emotional distress.

Old habits die hard. They go through life being taught that it's empowering to "always speak their mind" a.k.a. fly off at the mouth whenever they feel like it, and "not take no mess from anyone" a.k.a. get angry and belligerent at anyone who doesn't agree with them (even when they're wrong). A person like that is groomed to not respect authority, and the average person they deal with on a daily basis doesn't have nearly the amount of authority of a judge so NO ONE can correct them or tell them anything. So they just become insufferable and out of control adults that act like teenagers who can't regulate their emotions and behavior.

People don't know how to act in court anymore. Me and my sister and a bunch of other people had to be a witness at court for a lawsuit we are part of. I told my sister they will try and piss you off but stay calm. You can throw the whole entire case with attitude!!! Be mad after court but don't act up during.

Plaintiff was doing too much, even after he warned her. He already has a blatant bias against strong, confident, outspoken dark skinned women and likes to apply respectability politics on them, so she should have known she has to be extra well spoken, calm and "dignified" in front of him.

I believe the plaintiff did provoke some of the fight but I also believe the defendant stabbed her for sure! She wouldn’t have won regardless though because her attitude and what she wrote about the plaintiff, it just confirmed JM statement about her… Neither of them had any evidence so it was up to him to get to the bottom of it…
