They need a sequel to this. It was set up perfectly for one at the end. Even after all this time, it would still be doable and definitely worth it. This movie had something so many others now don't, an original plot. I've watched it at least a dozen times and I'm still not tired of it.

I have yet to find a movie remotely like The Covenant. They really should make a sequel.

Because he overused his magic powers with the cost of draining his life faster than normal. It is mentioned in the movie that after ascending at the age of 18 the magical powers become many times more powerful and addictive as well.
