Just after the war Coventry developed into a major engineering/manufacturing hub covering two- and four-wheel transportation, machine tools and aircraft offering a vast array of employment opportunities. Now it seems that it depends upon an array of 'service industries', keyboard wizards and iPhone hunchbacks. Greetings from a Brit residing in the USA who served an engineering apprenticeship in Coventry long, long ago.

According to the narrator, the war is till on. he talks of 'when the war is over etc-- To those who like to bang on about the Dresden raid---think about COVENTRY, and all the other city's from Guernica to Warsaw etc etc etc etc.

Not a bad video, except for the bloody intrusive GETTY IMAGES imposed greedily on every scene.

Strange how he's demobbed with his gun ... and then wanders around Coventry with it :-/

He's not supposed to be demobbed, he's supposed to be on leave. The film ends with him going back to fight in the late stages of the war

Markxist British soldiers sent home on leave with their gun? A bit of romancing there on the part of the film makers.

Of course, but a teensy bit more believable than a demobbed soldier walking round in full kit uniform and gun!

Actually I've just watched another film (YANKS) which sees a British infantry soldier come home on leave with his rifle, so I'm wondering if it is correct. Anyone know for sure?

Coventry? it was the outsiders that built Coventry up after the war. all the Cov kids did was moan.
