Coventry buses 1977 + Pool Meadow Bus Station

The old Coventry Pool Meadow Bus Station plus West Midlands PTE buses filmed in January 1977.
Most are still in Coventry City Transport cherry red/ivory colours, one is in a "hybrid" colour scheme mainly WMPTE cream/cherry red and others are in WMPTE blue/cream colours.
There's also one poppy red Midland Red bus.

I have to confess that I am a bus freak! Our school put on two trips to one of the Coventry bus depots, and I went on both of them. Loved the old Daimler buses and remember the bus No.100 that was reverse colours, mainly ivory over the maroon, it was nick named the white elephant.

It was great to see those old prefab shops as you came out of the subway. remember all of it well. much missed especially the hippodrome

Conductors were still in use where necessary - such as on the half-cab buses with rear open platforms.

My notes say that the video was taken around January 1977 - ie. 3 years after Coventry buses started getting painted in blue/cream. There were still some buses in Coventry in the red/ivory livery a year later (1978) according to one book that I have.

That's the first thing I noticed . Surprised the livery of the Corporation was still quite evident at this point.

As the original was silent 8mm cine film, when I copied the films to VHS I then added music.

You won’t need to credit me, just credit the channel name of where you got the footage from, if you’re only using 20 seconds it counts as fair use.
