Just emptying the batch.
Part II will be the second drive. Had to break this up into 2 parts. 2nd drive last play will feature an interception to end the drive playing cover 2 clip against bunch. Just showing how you can stay in cover 2 against certain opponents and be fine. Against others who utilize a more structured approach in how they attack and certain formations . . . you can't.

FYI, if you want to play regular cover 2 like it is supposed to work in real life, you can go into C6 and change the quarters side to C2 (cloud flat corners, deep half the high safety, vertical hook the box safety, and mid read the Mike) and the high safeties will play correctly and take anything that crosses their face

@@XandoFootball I say it "should" play this way. But i have to confess that I still play on m21 old gen and have no idea if it works on m23 new gen. I just assume the coverage coding is the same still.

Clip is gold. Been real match heavy last couple years but never c2. This has me wanting to mix it in against all of the slants drags and panties.

Nice additional to the toolbox with the switch on the running back. Plays similar to cover 9 . . . With subtle differences.

@@XandoFootball one thing that is scary with the corner covering 1 on strong side is when that guy is Tyreke hill and your opponent just streak bombs while your guy is stuck in mud at top of route. I’ve seen Hill smoke my fastest corners just with lob streak bombs while everything else in open trips is locked up by palms. (Madden issue).

@@Jdub-tv3ww Yes - Sometimes personnel dictates what a defense can and cannot do. Prime Randy Moss is a good example. With him outside, a team calling cover 1 and even c3 single high was just asking for the death shot. Sometimes, unique talents force you to sway away from coverages you wouldn't normally play. This is the exact reason why teams would put their best receiver on the single receiver side in trips. It can dictate your coverage. Play single high? I can work my best receiver to the single receiver side because he's 1 on 1. Double him . . . ? Well now we can work strong side knowing the weak side safety will not be involved. Now Madden can get very unrealistic in some bomb scenarios. Sometimes, even when backing up your corners while playing a soft coverage . . . they can get torched in some scenarios. One thing you can do is manually drop that corner back even more, but then than can create some other issues.

This applies to current gen as well right because on current gen you can't turn match on because there is no match setting

I believe so. I believe match is automatically on with current gen. I have no way to check though. :-(

Question are you running cover to as your main defense over cover 1? If so why the switch? I am currently a cover 1/0 shell.

I would say my number 1 call recently have been c2. 2nd most.... cover 9. Biggest reason is I usually don't have the personnel for cover 1. Also too...people run concepts that aren't good against cover 2 while they are decent against c1.

7:19 what are the rule of cover 2.... Seems like a spot drop with cloud flat from what I see with you usering the back side safety

If you're speaking of the play agains the 2 tight end formation, I was just in regular cover 2. I shift the d line, and user the safety the opposite side of the shift. With a run to my side, I make my force corner right, by triggering down and taking the alley if My corner is outside of his receiver, or I take outside, if my corner whips inside. If the run goes the opposite direction, then we are just in pursuit towards the run. I never play spot drop. Match is turned on. When you have match turned on with cover 2 called . . . even if you don't change anything , there is a subtle match principle involved.

2 Match? On ps5 . . . Going off muscle memory because I'm not on game right now but , Triangle, Triangle, Square , Left on Dpad. Triangle, Triangle, 0 , Left on Dpad. User LB and change him to anything but 3rec...I usually just put him in deep middle blue...but it doesn't matter because we are usering this player. Before I started using this tactic, I never used the dpad to change players. I would manually click on defenders and make adjustments so I understand if it seems like too much. After doing it in practice mode . . . .5 minutes later . . . it's natural and easy to drill in memory as you can get into 2 match in literally 2 seconds.

@@XandoFootball I struggle with changing players and what their doing. Half the time my adjustment mini menu doesn’t even come up but I don’t have it all memorized like that. I’m really struggling with middle of the field throws. I genuinely run cover 4 in nickel but I still get torched when I play good players.

I match everything. Match is always on when I play. Cover 2 clip is just cover 2 with an adjustment against 3 x 1 sets. Plays similar to cover 9 with match on with subtle differences

@@motivationtheory6999 I will have to make a video - Seems like a simple thing to explain but it's kind of hard to convey over text. Changing your front drastically changes run defense for better or worse. I'm talking about shifting your defensive line. I can't just say to shift your defensive line left or right, because it's relative to the run strength of formation . . . .

@@XandoFootball to kind of add to this, I'd love more content about defensive fronts and the front 7 generally. There's a lot of great Madden content out there about reading secondary and coverage shells but I've not been able to find nearly as much about how to position your defensive line and linebackers against different formations, which defensive fronts to attack/are vulnerable or strong vs different runs, etc. I watched a video where NFL QB Kurt Benkert was talking through pre-snap reads on Madden with Throne (I think) and he mentioned the positioning of linebackers almost straight away re: IDing coverage and that's something that the vast majority of Madden content I've came across stays away from, ignoring the front seven to focus on the secondary

13:25 - 14:11, I disagree, the more time your defense have to be on the field, the more tired they will get; therefore, leading to touchdowns. This video goes to show how Cover 2 is a poor defense to use if you want your defense to get off the field. Keep it simple, stu (KISS), just stick to Cover 1 (use the divider line to your advantage) and Cover 4 Match as your main staples.

I disagree. In cover 2, your 7 pass defenders aren't chasing men all over the field in crossing patterns and routes. In other words, they aren't getting nearly as tired as a team that stays in man defense all game. Secondly, the goal of the game is to not give up points. I'm from Chicago. Team of the shitty bears. In 05-06 , defense was incredible. In 10, when they went to the playoffs and was at the top of the league in takeaways, they weren't great at stopping teams from getting yards . . . but when you got in the redzone, they forced 3's. Lastly - you can't just "stick to cover 1". If there is a major talent disparity at receiver to your secondary, you are going to get ->torched. Playing cover 4 match with a major talent disparity will give you the same problems. You have to take in account your roster when calling coverages. Also, if your opponent is running a shitty offense that doesn't stretch defenders, cover 2 zone and cover 3 zone type stuff are just better than man and match.
