A khimar in arabic is a covering. Like a covering for the floor, table, window. It’s a physical covering of something. The aya says to strike a covering over their pockets. The term pockets is used because it has a physical and psychological meaning. God didn’t use the term breast or chest deliberately. The Koran never talked specifically about hair covering. That’s what we humans made it. The interpretations nowadays about the Koran, and not only about the hijab, are really worrying. The hijab has been materialised. The Koran has been materialised. This is really concerning. I really hope muslim women start to open this discussion, because after all, they are wearing the symbol of the materialised Islam. It’s time to go back to the essence of Islam, and to fulfil our journey in this world as was asked by God, not by sheiks that are imposing interpretations that are dividing us, and are leading is to an earthly existing.

Khimar in arabic lughat means something which covers head. In arabic literature it is said that if somebody spots a horse whose head is of different colour than that of the body, they would call it a horse with differently coloured head n it mentions the word khimar or it derivative in it, Depicting Khimar for head. Sorry i don't remember the actual word. Any arabic lughat will tell u that khimar is something that is used to cover head. And the question of covering bosoms. It is very clear in the very aayah... wherein ALLAH ta'ala says that draw it over or extend it over your juyyub...obviously for something to b drawn over or extended over something, it has firstly to b present somewhere where from it can b extended. It is not just culture, it's hukm e ilahi.

Walwazribna bekhumurihina alaa juwuubwhina. The other part of this ayat commands women not even to strike their feet in such a way lest their hidden ornaments are known to na-mahrems. (Soora noor, ayatollah 31). And Sura noor ayat no.60 grants some relaxation to old women. Then what is that which is not relaxed for other women. I don't agree with Ghamidi sb on this issue.

It was simply a cultural practice. Also pls u lot don't have the right to talk about blind following scholars. There are many scholars who say women have to cover their faces or women must cover one eye when going outside.
