Did you know that Andrea has yet to encounter a religion or culture that doesn't have a connection to covering one's head? It's absolutely fascinating! Here she introduces Bambi, a Navajo guide she met at Antelope Canyon in Utah, who shares the reasons why and when she covers her head.

Even though I am a religious person, I don't wrap for religious reasons; I wrap my hair as a protective style for my super tight curls (coils). BUT the first time I put on my shaper from Wrapunzel, I felt deeply and incredibly happy.... for no reason that I could name, so I think there's something mystical about covering your hair for religious reasons. I'd like to hear more stories from different cultures.

Hello! I am Celtic reconstructionalist! (Sect of Wicca) and I cover my head too! I was so happy when I found Wrapunzel and was overjoyed by how beautiful I felt when I bought my first shaper! I am so happy that yall recognize so many different religions that cover up, and I feel so accepted and appreciated here! Blessed be to you!

For many traditions head covering is used as an energy shield to prevent overwhelming energies and psychic attacks. Love the kind vibes here. Senebty, everyone. 💕💕

I am not religious but I cover my head as well. I have studied many religions and cultures and they have helped guide me on my head-covering journey (and in my life in general)! I actually first learned it from Islam but have also learned a lot thru Hinduism, Christianity and Judaism. (As well as many of your tutorials! 🤗) I do it as a form of modesty and devotion (and sometimes for warmth), but my main reason for doing it is because I am sensitive to energy and I feel protected, secure and connected to my higher power when I wear a head covering. I also noticed a huge shift in my life when I started covering myself 💯🌟 Also, I live in a small town where people do not quite understand and assume I am religious (some even judge me for it), but in fact I am not, it is just all religions that I have learned it from, and I think it's a beautiful form of expression no matter what background a person comes or what their reason is for doing it! ❤

It's not only a blockage to negative energy, but throws people off enough so they keep their distance. 😊

@@todayslist37737 Yes, definitely, I like how you put that. I'm at a stage in my life where I have been building my own energy, and being in my own energy is exactly what I need to be able to do that! 😊

I wrap for more spiritual reasons. I have psychic gifts and am energetically sensitive and having my crown covered helps to shield and protect against psychic attacks. I’ve learned so much from watching your videos over the past 6 years. I just purchased my first shaper from you last month! Thank you for all you do for us. 🩵🕊️🙏

I believe that there is knowledge that comes from before the fall of Babel regarding the art of covering the head. In our scripture (new testament, Christian) Paul argued that our God given ability to grow long hair as women is a sign of our need to cover during prayer. He also mentions make headship, as well as "the angels." So, there's a bit of a mystery as to how it all fits together, and I know many Christians believe Paul's command is cultural and not universal, but I see women covering for religious, modest, and even practical reasons all around the world and it tells me that there is something deeply ingrained in us leading us to cover. It's amazing to see that even a couple hundred years ago a huge percent of women covered in Europe and America (where I live), at least under certain circumstances

I grew up near the Navajo reservation, and many of friends in school were Navajo. I love getting to have this connection back to my past. I love how Wrapunzel supports headwrapping for all people, for all reasons, and that we are able to come together over this. I hope you have the opportunity in the future to showcase other cultures as well.

I think it’s so interesting how it is such a global phenomena. I feel like someone could have a phd in head wrapping. I love anthropology so it would definitely be something I’d be interested in researching more.

I’m not wrapping my head for religious reasons, but for fashionable reasons only. Andrea, you and the Wrapunzel Ladies inspire me so, and I never would or could have started head wrapping without the excellent demonstration/tutorial videos you post! (Warning: collecting beautiful textiles for head wrapping can be habit forming.) It is recommended to become a Wrapunzelista with a membership, so that you can be notified ahead of the public about upcoming sales and order anytime there are new offerings with the included free shipping coupon. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills with us! I can’t get enough of Olivia and Leorah. They are so talented with their styling! ☮️❤️🐾(P.S. Women in Mali headwrap! I was once watching a cooking show on PBS where the host went to Mali, and there was a group of women depicted that were wearing colorful clothing and headwraps. I thought that group of women were the most beautiful women in the world I’d ever seen! I don’t know if they were Muslim and wrapping for that reason or cultural ones, but they looked gorgeous!)

@@todayslist37737 Have you thought of displaying them on your wall as art? I decided to indulge my love of textiles and draped clothing (such as Indian saris) by taking up head wrapping, as it is more practical and accessible for my lifestyle in California. My housemate (at my request) has fashioned a lovely solid wood bar for fabric display purposes, that has yet to be installed. I’m thinking of two and even three scarf combinations (one or two solid, one or two patterned/striped) already! I’d not likely wear elaborate wraps like that often, but I could be looking at them daily on the wall instead. Working in medical support for most of my working life, on the day-to-day, like yourself I find myself rewearing about ten pashminas, with a headband, brooch, or other scarf accent (snood when on duty). Hanging fabric on walls (tapestries) is something I’ve done for decades now when decorating personal spaces, as carpets stay much cleaner hanging vertically than being walked upon, and they dampen sound in addition. Now, I’ll have a corner in my bedroom (with hardwood floors and a vaulted ceiling, one hundred percent “live” surfaces, lol!) that will function as a weekly (?) display area for creative textile displays. Many worldwide spiritual traditions set aside a corner of the house for the placement of religious objects and/or images, and this will be my version of the practices. Hopefully, these suggestions will give your little-used scarf palette a new lease on life! Creative, artistic expression *affirms life,* which is what Andrea and Wrapunzel Ladies have shown me by their example. ☮️❤️🐾

As far as i can tell women who were not harlots all had a bonnet or some sort of covering in America until the bra burning started creeping in. They also dressed modestly pretty much until the 1900s.

My heritage is in Lithuania, but I grew up in NM, near the Navajo reservation. One of my Navajo friends told me about getting to go to Lithuania on a trip and seeing that traditional Lithuanian weaving patterns are almost identical to Navajo ones. It is amazing, the connections between cultures that seem so distanced at first.

Buddhism actually doesn't practice head wrapping. It is actually frowned upon to walk into a temple with one unless for health reasons. That being said, they don't care if you do it outside of temple.
