I think there's one aspect England fans need to realise about the "we got to two finals" argument. Who were England playing back in the 2000s when they had the last golden generation? You'll find 3 or 4, and only one win (against Germany in 2021). England is not reaching finals and semi-finals because Southgate is a genius or because they're amazing. They've just been incredibly lucky with drawings and have been facing much weaker opponents. The worst part is, when they finally face strong opponents, they fold. This is why England doesn't win trophies, you can't keep riding your luck forever, against strong opposition, luck isn't enough.
