The fact that Spike and Jet were stuffing their faces with eggs to keep from crying gets me everytime man 💔

That last look Ein gives to Jet.... It's like he knows he's not going to see him again. :(

Considering how serious and downcast the finale is, I can see why they sent off the cute dog and precious child. Their antics would have seemed a little out of place.

Ah yes, the episode where everybody cried

The scene when Ed and Ein left in addition to a fantastic song is one of the most emotional - heart breaking anime moments ever. In episode 9 Spike said that he doesn't like kids, animals and women with attitude. Now all of them left. When he saw ed's goodbye message he totally felt devastating on the inside and for the first time he expressed his feelings for someone else than Julia, in the scene with the eggs. Also despite the fact that Spike never totally cared for ed she didn't forget him in the end giving him that little windmill along with a smile. Also Faye's flashback about her as a little child running towards her home and the devastating look on her face when she saw that it was completely destroyed was one of the most emotional scenes in cowboy bebop as well. These last minutes of that episode will always remain very deep in my heart and scenes like these are what make this anime so special and one of the best ever.

The scene of Jet announcing dinner and then looking for Spike mirrors the scenes from the first episode. Some of the exact same shots are used. Jet announces dinner, is surprised to see Spike not there, then finds him looking out the window in the control room. The first time this happens, Spike is looking out into cold space, reflecting on the last thing Katerina said to him - "Adieu". The second time, he's looking at the words directly, and the fact that they're much more personal is visually signified by them being plastered on his own home - "BYE BYE". This is a whole show about the inevitability of saying goodbye.

It really hits the boys that all three of their new crew bailed on them at once.

i remember crying like a lil bitch when i first saw this episode and now every single time afterwards. the best episode in the series in my opinion

Ed is such a good character. I honestly forgot how little she was in this show. With her wild and crazy personality she definitely stole every scene she was in. I just don't know how they're gonna find somebody to have that same level of energy for the live action show.

This was one of the saddest cowboy bebop episodes. Get ready for the last ones though because they're gonna hit you hard, but you're gonna have to carry that weight.

This episode is so, so, so wonderful. It touched my soul the most, out of all the others. I started watching Cowboy Bebop when you guys started the reactions for it. I kept watching, due to it being EPIC, and I got to this episode just over a week ago. I cried; I watched it right when I was meant to in my life. So much in the episode meant so much to me. Thank you guys for introducing this show to me. It will forever be one of my favorites.

Its the first time the Bebop crew have all they can eat, but they cant enjoy it because Fay,Ed and Ein arent there with them

This episode and the finale are the two I feel the most in my chest whenever I watch. It's so good.

I was lucky enough to watch Cowboy Bebop during its original airing on Toonami, when I was just a teenager. After all these years, I'll never forget this ending. Call Me Call Me is one of my favorite songs in a soundtrack filled with incredible music; just hearing that opening guitar tune is enough to take me back. The images of Ed skipping through the wasteland, Faye solemnly throwing the stick away in silhouette, and Spike and Jet eating those eggs to hide their pain are forever burned into my memory. See you cowgirl, someday, somewhere!

Ricks face when "call me, call me" starts.. I feel the same way whenever i hear the song 🤘🏼

Here we are at last. This episode emotionally wrecked me the first time I saw it. The music is solid, the images beautiful, and the dialogue very much in keeping with the series. An easy Top Five ranking from me, and one of my most watched episodes. Wow. Great reaction, guys! 👍🏾

Damn son, Eric caught the importance of the egg eating scene. Most impressive, it's something not a lot of people catch on the first watch through.

I like to think Ed reconnects with the rogue AI from episode 9 which helps her dad re-map the world. Bebop's a masterpiece but damn I want another season to see how they're doing.

Dude I watched this episode and this reaction a long time ago, I watched this today during lunch at work and I broke out crying with the last Ed scene AGAIN hahaha.. ah that always gets me, I know Ed and Ein will be alright, but you know... I would miss them 😭.

I've been rewatching Cowboy Bebop recently, just picking random episodes to watch whenever, kind of like how I first watched it on Adult Swim when I was a kid. I'm actually trying my hardest to avoid this episode in particular. I cried at the end of Jupiter Jazz, Bohemian Rhapsody, AND Speak Like a Child, those aren't anywhere near as heartbreakingly sad as Hard Luck Woman, I'm gonna bawl my damn eyes out when it comes to this. It's taken me almost 20 years to come to fully understand and appreciate it, Cowboy Bebop is so much more than entertainment, it's art.

Tears flowing once again from this show. This might be my favorite episode and Ed may be my favorite anime character. She's hilarious, interesting, adorable, unique and just genuinely good. A true free spirit. Her character design, voice acting and animation all fit her personality perfectly. But then again that can be said about all the members of Bebop. Another thing that makes her such a great character is that when we first meet her she seems like she's just going to be the stereotypical, one dimensional comic relief character, and even though she does provide a lot of comic relief she also has a lot to her that begs questions which makes her more complex. Like how did she become such a genius hacker, where was she for all the time she wasn't with her Dad or at the orphanage and what kind of woman is she going to grow-up to be. I think it's better off that we don't know these things as the mystery is a part of her charm. One thing that would be cool, though, is if Ein ended-up having a super long life span because of the experiments he went through so that the two of them could always have each other.

To this day I think that if Ed stayed with the crew the ending of the show would be different. Sad thing is, Bebop crew could have made Earth habitable, they had AI from the Space defence satellite, so if they could have it start shooting down the debries in orbit until it is too small to not burn in atmosphere.

I personally have the theory that Faye is from Singapore because of the meerlion statue (oficial image of singapore), the hills and the tropic vibe with the ocean. Make sense also because of the wealth of the family. Just makes sense to me.

I think Ed is partly based off Pippi Longstockings, and Appledelhi is based off Pippi's father. In the series, she always tells her friends her father is the king of pirates or something like that, and tells less than believable stories about him and his adventures, which her friends (and the audience) are led to understand are fantasies to justify his absence, possibly meaning he's dead and she, being an orphan, fantasizes about him. At least until he appears and he is PRECISELY how she described him. He is superhumanly strong and does all sorts of impossible and weird stuff. BTW, "Francoise" isn't part of Ed's overly long name, since her name is something she made up herself. Francoise Appledelhi is POSSIBLY her real name. I say possibly because, considering how much of an airhead her father is, he could remember it completely wrong.

If you remember back to the episode about the kid who couldn't die, he got that ability when the Gate blew up and blasted a hole into the moon. The thing is that the event of the Gate explosion is also incredibly important to what happened to Faye because she was on the ship to the Gate when it exploded. Difference is that she didn't get any powers. When you see the glass crack when looking at the moon, that is meant to symbolize the connection to the Gate explosion

I like the subtle hint that Ed’s dad - despite all his failings as a father - stands out as someone who can ACTUALLY fight Spike! Like Spike accepts Ed going with him, because at least he CAN protect her. He doesn’t want her to leave but maybe she’ll be safe, you know?

I didn’t understand the end with Spike and Jet stuffing their faces with eggs when I first saw it which was only a few days ago. I thought it was a weird thing over a mostly sad goodbye for two of our crew members. Now that people say what that means and why it’s there makes more sense. I’ll probably be fine with it over time, but it’s still a little weird for me

that bit of animation with Spike vs Appledelhi was done by Yutaka Nakamura. you might remember him as the guy who animated: the action sequences in Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood's second intro. (also did a few stunning bits of fighting animation in the 03 anime, with the Ed vs Greed and Ed vs Envy fights as well as shorter, still brilliant sequences with Scar killing some motorcyclist bandits and a brief fight between Greed and Envy.) Todoroki freezing the giant robots in MHA the final blast of Midoriya vs Todoroki in MHA Bakugo's flying escape from All for One in MHA Midoriya and Bakugo's charge against each other followed by the fancy footwork and spin kick from Midoriya in MHA the Midoriya vs Overhaul final blow. a good portion of both MHA movie's climaxes. pretty much the entire Saitama vs Boros fight in One Punch Man. the Mob vs Koyama flight sequence and crash back to earth in Mob Psycho 100, the final duel of Sword of the Stranger. the final duel of Cowboy Bebop as a series. the final duel of Cowboy Bebop's movie. and a whole lot more. man's a legend.

Ed is presented as a silly character who ironically carries the lesson of the series; live in the present. There's no pain in Ed when it's time to move along because they lived that experience authentically and presently. The others are prisoners to their past and couldn't notice that family and happiness were staring them right in the face. AND EVEN WHEN THEY REALIZE IT- face full of eggs. More pain added to our past to fuel us.

We're in the end game now boys.

I hope that *Steins;Gate* is next finally! :D Those who haven't seen it yet..Believe me that your future self would be mad at you for not choosing it sooner lol. The Steins Gate has chosen you. I absolutely hated this episode. Ed belonged with the Bebop crew. And deep down in my nerdy heart, I like to imagine that Ed could have convinced Spike to stay instead of going off on a stupid suicide mission.

I understand not watching the previews the first time through, but they should really go back and watch them now. Some of them are more than just, "On the next episode." Like "Toys in the Attic" with Ed saying everyone is dead and now the show is all about her. Or this one going into the finale, with Jet talking about how there are some things we don't want to end, but we have to face them. Good stuff worth checking out.
