I want to get into hunting with my boys. I have thought about doing coyote hunting since we live in a BIG farm area. I always thought the only calls were the prey calls. Seeing this gives me a whole different option to call them, and actually makes a LOT more sense then doing a typical prey call. Thanks, and keep up the good work.

to michfan7804 here in maine those calls don't sound exactly like his but when i was first starting to mess around with calls this helped me to just go through the motions and learn something about how coyotes think and react to different sound and howls.

I don't like hunting, I don't like to hurt animals, I like to take pictures of wild animals when I get a chance, this video really helped me, i would love to have a picture of a wild coyote up close.

I have both an ecaller and different reed calls. Sadly i have only called in a coyote with my reed calls. Called in one doe about 3 weeks ago with my foxpro using a fawn distess call while trying an afternoon hunt (love kentuckys year round season and night hunting). Thanks for the tips. I have some howlers but i am still practicing with them.

Im not a hunter myself but i do respect them in what they do and the effort they put into it, and it really pisses me off that they cant post a video without hundreds of people threatning them and being rude. Ever since deer season ended, I have been going out at least 2 times a week coyote hunting. I have 2 electronic calls (FoxPro and Primos) and have used both with little success. However, I have been using various distress sounds (baby and adult cottontail, fawn, fox etc.). All of which have been highly recommended by various videos on coyote hunting. About 10 days ago, I got a wild hair and tried out the coyote pups in distress. Within 15 minutes, I had one down at about 75 yds. Then, yesterday I heard a coyote in the distance while I was feeding my horses. This was about 6:15 p.m. My game call was nearby and I decided to see if I could get some sort of response. I tried the coyote challenge for about 15 seconds. Within 3 minutes, I had another coyote down within 100 yds. of my house. Then, today, I fed the horses and since it was quite cool and I was in nothing but sweat pants and sweat shirt, I pulled my SUV up next to the barn and sat in it, with the motor running no less. Once again I tried the coyote challenge off and on for about 15 minutes. Then, within 75 yds. I shot another coyote from my car window. Guess what I will be using tomorrow.

what model Brand is the howler you're using that imitates the friendly call and gets them to talk/howl back to you?

@streamylc perhaps there is a difference on the sides of the country, cuz here i northern michigan they sound exactually like his calls.

It's an open reed call. It's kind of hard how to explain how to do it. Just mess around with one and try placed your lips on different parts of the reed and practice.

I find it funny how people in the comments turn a simple instructional video about a plastic coyote call into a heated argument, with swearing, threats and insults. Its intention is for tips and instructions why turn it into a debate of insults? Whats wrong with these people

Maybe if some of these anti hunting, cityslickers saw coyotes killing deer for sport, or eating prey before it's even dead, they would soon change their tune on coyote hunting. The coyotes are so thick in Nova Scotia, can't walk anywhere in the woods without seeing signs of them. Thanks for the video!

I'm probably still just going to use a recording of a coyote call, the coyote calls you listed said I could get cancer from using them, and next year for my birth day I get to see my adopted wolf Zephyr and I want to be able to see him in person before I pass away. I got the adoption papers for Zephyr on Christmas, and a picture of him, and a necklace with a picture of him on it and information about him, he just turned 7 years old in human years April 20th.

Hunting is a part of life... To the people who are alive today and are against it should know that without it, none of us would be here. You don't like green grass? That's just the way it is. You don't like how too much sugar is bad for you? That's just the way it is. You don't like hunting? Well guess what? Before you start to comment or contribute to the anti-hunting comments... please... think about it first.

They can be an awful pest/cost to farmers and ranchers. Some will pay a bounty for dogs taken in their area. Driving the coyote population down in an area has also been said to improve deer and elk hunting as well. It is fun for some people as they are considered a predator. There is no season (year round hunting). There is no bag limit.

Anyone who thinks Coyotes shouldn't be hunted hasn't talked to a biologist from the DEP. ( Especially in the northeast) They are decimating the populations of ground nesting birds and all mammals, not to mention people's beloved pets. When they have plenty of food they can have litters of a dozen pups. Also, they need to be hunted to have a fear of people.

I pass on taking coyotes while hunting... they slip right up on you if you're prepared right. I've never seen one turn on me, but at home it's a lot more than one. We have never had coyotes, but they've come in to wipe ranchers out. As harmless as they look, one small pack is as brutal as one big cat. Except cats don't have a frenzied nature when hunting. Panthers do & they're down right scary.

Depending on where the coyotes are located, do they sound different? Because in Southern California, that is NOT how they sound at all. They sound exactly like loud yapping dogs but it goes thru the night and you can tell by the excitement and movement that they are not domesticated animals but free-moving wild life.

Coyotes are killing off the new born Deer Fawns As soon as they are born, Putting a big dent in the Adult Deer Population etc. I hunt these Coyotes all year round, When given the chance, To keep them in check etc.

They overpopulate areas where they are unchallenged by any other predators. They in turn can be a horrible problem for animal farmers.

I hate to be the Nay-sayer, but living in rural New Mexico and hearing coyote packs every night, you'd have a better chance at taking a boston terrier out to be bait. That call sounds nasty and nothing like coyotes. Being an animal with a heightened sense of hearing I'd think they'd notice the difference. Stick with the dying rabbit.
