Inspired by the campfire creation stories of Native America this animation explores the origins of the mythical creatures Raven and Coyote: How they collaborated to create the earth, their eventual disagreements over life and death, and the birth of man and woman. Narrated beautifully by American actor Franklin Ojeda Smith this is the timeless tale of mortality, revenge, and rebirth.

@@justintuccimusic Palestine Liberation Organization come to the rez & explain Cemanahuacaan (Amuricaans) history. Canaanites were in Egypt, after Avram, Isaac, & Ishmail became the kings of the lost tribes, they were nomads and gypsies that later ruled Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria, & Iraq. Those people had descendants that did make their way into Mediterranean sea, then into Malta and canarys, Spain, & Italy. The Moroccans and saracens ruled the ports and peninsulas for nearly 1000 years. These people established government and order. They did have waves of groups that travelled to south and central America which is considered partly ancestral Mexican indigenous people. Those groups migrated thru Anahuacan (Oaxaca), then into Teotihuacaan, Xhitchen itza in Yucatan, After the fall, they traveled north into Sonoran desert crossing paths with Culiacaan, into uto aztecaan territory (Aztlan) with tribes like Cahitaan, Mazatlaan, Tarahumara, finally making the way into what we now know as the south and midwest usa. Those peple are closely related to the cohokian people then the Hopewell in Ohio where serpent mound lies. The people had altercations with the tribes in northeast like Iroquoi Seneca Mohecan Manhato susquehanna and others so they then came to the north & southwest. Lakota, Minesota, Tacoma, Muwok, Oregon, Umohah, Chickasaw, Chocktaw, Navajo, Hopi, Apache, Rancheria, Yaqui, Yoeme, Cupeno, Campesino, Cumeya, Utes, and many more! All descendants from ancient Mexicaan indigenous peoples, we are not slaves or beggars, these are our brothers from the lost tribes of Avrahim, Isachar, & Ishmail. We just need time to remember that we came out the earth and sent off in all directions of the earth to share all the knowledge we've learned from this journey in life! We are all family

Thanks everyone for you kind comments. To answer some question this is a combination of creation stories that I researched and sort-of moulded into one. The animation "style" has more to do with the fact that I ran out of time (this was a project for college) and really it's pretty bad looking back on it. Glad it's found an audience. For more wonderful voice over work by Franklin Ojeda Smith I recommend watching - The Spirit Child on YT. Thanks again.

Thank you for sharing this. Very moving. I almost cried a little. I guess this is why Coyote yells at the sky. He's pissed at Raven.

It’s because he lost his son. He decided that man should live a long life and then die so that they could move on. So Raven decided that it should be that way from now on and evermore. So he brought this on himself. He begged Raven to bring him back but Raven wouldn’t because his law on life and death was already made.

Years ago I had a dream of a coyote man figure appear to me, I had no knowledge of any lore but throughout the years the more I've researched the more I feel like it was some sort of visit. I'm not really superstitious, nor am I Native but I am human. I was taken from a canyon into a gully where I was led to a cave, the figure let out a shrieking laugh that echoed while it was holding fire/a torch casting shadows on the walls. I woke up with the most eerie feeling, like sick to my stomach. It's one of those dreams that stand out so vividly even as time has gone by. Life has gone in various directions, as it does for us all but I get this funny feeling/intuition that I just can't shake. I have no answers or questions really just a thanks for this, always nice to see a visual representation as a reminder. Much love ❤

You know, one could almost argue that man chose to kill raven🤔think about it. "Bloodthirsty monsters who kill not because they have to but because they want to" is a pretty good description of humanity in general.

I searched this up because I had a strange dream that I was wondering in the woods on a path. And a coyote was calling me. Except it didn't know my name so it keeps on imitating the voice of a woman calling out "hey." When I looked at it for some reason it looks like a human with the head of a wolf or something. And it was trying to ask for my name. But then this old guy motioned me away to the edge of the forest. I followed him and suddenly was out of the forest. The old guy was laughing and said old coyote is up to his tricks agian.

A young woman who did not have a husband, lived with her two brothers. One day a handsome stranger came to their house. The brothers said to the sister, “This handsome man has come for you so you must marry him.” So the couple were wed. On their wedding night the young woman awoke to the sound of a dog gnawing on a bone. The woman’s husband was also no longer at her side. She jumped up, lit the fire, and searched the tent but there was no dog in the tent. The woman went back to bed and fell asleep. Once again she was awakened by the sound of a dog gnawing on a bone. The woman called out to one of her brothers who threw a hatchet in the direction of the noise. There was a loud cry and then silence. The woman and her brothers quickly lit the fire and found a large black dog lying dead. The woman’s husband did not return. Eventually the woman gave birth to six puppies. The woman loved these puppies but she was also ashamed of them and concealed them in a sack. One day upon returning to the camp, the woman noticed the footprints of children around the camp. The next day instead of checking her snares as she usually did, she hid behind a bush close to the tent. After she had left, the six puppies crawled out of the sack and turned into three girls and three boys. The woman ran towards them but before she could reach them, two of the girls and one of the boys jumped back into the sack. Illustration of the woman watching the puppies turn into children The remaining three children grew up strong and healthy and produced many children. We are descended from them and that is why we call ourselves the Tłįcho or Dogrib people.my creation story not a myth its the truth

This fable has lingered in my mind since I first listened to it back in elementary school. I remembered it today while at work of all things, and found myself here again after all these years with a question! I was wondering, which tribe or group does this story belong to? Or was it a wider accepted belief among the majority that carried it until now?

Coyote came to me in a late night sleep. Coyote made me write the story he narrated, I do not remember getting out of bed on that boat to write 2 yellow legal tablet pages of How Coyote Brought Rain To The Colville People. I took it to mean that Coyote was a spirit guide for me. In 1983 began my knowledge of this.

It's nicely done, but i find the crux of the story hard to believe: that the raven so easily gives in to coyote's demand that everything must eventually die, and then so adamantly refuses to change the rule so that coyote's son could come back to life (and everything else would not die), not because he can't do it, but he simply won't because they already made an agreement? That's like God agreeing to let the devil have his way, and then when the devil changes his mind, God holds the devil to his word rather than restoring immortality to all of creation..... Am i missing something here?

DUALISM Yet another myth or legend predicated on the premise of a duality that represents the ultimate reality, since Raven (the two-legged tribe) and Coyote (the four-legged tribe) have no forebears. As such, it is a variation on the most ancient religions like Manichaeism (Good and Evil), Freemasonry (Black and White checkerboard pattern) and Luciferianism (Angel and Demon) including the three "religions of the Book" that are likewise fatally flawed in theology, philosophy and ontology.
