@sweetdrahthaar79516 ай бұрын
@@craighanson2983 I figured there were pheasants and quail most places that they grow corn. Or crops of any kind for that matter. I spent several decades, enjoying Upland bird hunting in Idaho, and the population definitely dwindled a lot during my years in the outdoors.
@mikefromtown5056 ай бұрын
No Pheasnts or Quail in Alberta. The only introduced game birds that thrived her are the Hungarian Partridge. We have lots of grouse. A coyote pack that big will just bring diseases like mange, rabies and tapeworm.

That’s crazy. My cousin was in a treestand behind his house when he heard something jingling coming right at him. It turned out to be the collar on the neighbors dog. The dog ran right under him followed by 11 coyotes. He was about 16 at the time and didn’t want to shoot at the coyotes because he was worried he would scare any deer that were around. His dad told him that him shooting would scare them less than 11 coyotes. The neighbor dog made it home.

This is why trapping is important to the ecosystem and why so many people lose pets to coyotes. As the only species with the intellect to control predator populations we have the responsibility to to keep coyote packs from getting that large.

@redfaux746 ай бұрын
I agree with that 100% but there are occasions of animals that normally do not gather like this to explode in numbers in a plague. It has happened with wolves also. It destroys the ecosystem into they finally are forced to eat each other. And they do.... It happens with lions often in Africa. They get large numbers and go down to 5 or 8 in 3 years. Cycles.... but they always end up eating each other when they out eat their surroundings.

I would like to hear the story behind the video. Granted, I live in Kansas, not Canada (?). But in over fifty years of hunting coyotes, I have never seen anywhere near that many coyotes together on a single property. The most I ever seen, was around twenty. That was back in the mid-1970s. And they were congregated in approximately 10 acres of plum thickets so thick a human couldn't walk through them. And there had just been a large snow storm, that dumped around 18-28 inches of snow.

Cold weather and a pile of dead cows on a big ranch is what brings that many coyotes to one place. The most I’ve seen is 29 on a dead cow while thermal hunting but that video is easy to believe. There’s probably a pile of dead cows and they’re using the corn as a travel corridor.

In the late 70s and early 80s, hunter participation was at its highest levels. As a kid, I never heard of coyotes being trapped or harvested. Today, sportsmen ranks have dwindled, and coyote populations have exploded. Is that just natural causes? Or were there other agendas at play, here. Let's be honest, hunting has changed. It more about putting a trophy whitetail on the wall. Mature animals, bigger in body size and weight. Farmers complain about deer damage, foresters say deer are destroying timber and insurance companies have a problem with deer collision claims. The conservation agencies won't fess up to these animals were brought to help curve the deer population. So believe what you want, but there's a cause and effect for everything........
